Lovely little place on Rat Vitti (i think that's how you spell it). The staff leave you well alone which is great, the setting is lovely and it's near loads of good stuff so all good in that respect. THe rooms are a little spartan but hey, I didn't come to Thailand to spend all day in my room.

Loy Krathong day 2/ Eric and Noelle!/Mountain fun

A travel blog entry by dustinhaines on Nov 11, 2014

... we met up with Eric and Noelle and headed towards the downtown area where the nightly activities were to take place. It was awesome catching up with them and learning about what they had down so far on their trip (they paid a lot more for some of the same activities that we had done due to not having local hosts). We went down to the river and paid some men that seemed to have some sort of disabilities (hence paying them) to light the candles then send off our ...

Chiang Mai Temple and Tiger Kingdom

... far, I was not going to let it defeat me so when Matty headed towards the stairs I was quick to say no and head towards the cable car. I did it too, it was bloody scary and I was shaking all the way through but I did it. One more think I can tick off the done list. After that it was time for another 30 minute taxi ride but this time to Tiger Kingdom, I was sooooo excited. Tiger kingdom was amazing, we paid to go in with the small tiger and I definitely would not describe it as ...

Chiang Mai, Thailand

... Zealand, Canadian and many that I probably missed as the cong was quite big. Well, as usual I almost didn't make it. I had decided to walk and follow a map that didn't have street signs on all of the streets and some were only in Thai, so not easy to follow. Navigating in Asia is tough! What I thought might be a half hour walk was a one hour brisk walk. It was a serious fluke I found the hall. I pretty much stumbled across it when I wasn't expecting it. The day had been ...

A Day of Firsts!

A travel blog entry by ripo0005 on May 30, 2014

... I knew, they were throwing me up there. It was so scary! Eventually I began to enjoy it! After we all had a chance to ride an elephant by ourselves, we got onto elephants in pairs because there was not enough for each of us to have our own.

We began riding alongside the river, then all of a sudden, we were in the river! The water only went up to the elephants knees, my waist. After about an hour of riding around, we got off of our elephants in the river ...

Buddhism vs. Catholicism

A travel blog entry by ripo0005 on May 28, 2014

... of all Thais. Like the Buddha, Catholics have the cross that they look to. I find it interesting that I think it would be weird to see a cross displayed on the side of the road.

Other ideas:

Because Thailand is a developing country, I think it is good that Buddhism is so prevalent in the daily lives of the Thais. Buddhism gives the Thais something to agree upon. Amongst all of the political unrest, individuals supporting different parties can find solace together in the ...
