Lovely little place on Rat Vitti (i think that's how you spell it). The staff leave you well alone which is great, the setting is lovely and it's near loads of good stuff so all good in that respect. THe rooms are a little spartan but hey, I didn't come to Thailand to spend all day in my room.

Tuesday 5th After surviving another 6 hour bus we arrived in Chiang Mai and made it to our guesthouse. As it was already early evening we had a quick wonder around the local area and grabbed something to eat before hitting the hay. Wednesday 6th On Thursday We woke up and had a late breakfast and a good chat with everyone else staying at the guesthouse, then on recommendation we decided to mission it to Wot Sutep which is situatied in the hills about 40 minutes ...

Last day in chaing mai

We've spent the longest time of our trip in chaing mai and is most probably our favourite place in Thailand. It's much more laid back than Bangkok and is cheaper than the islands. On our last day we decided to go to the elephant parade centre where artists paint elephant ornaments to sell in order to care for injured elephants and protect the Asian elephant. You also got the ...

... have a turn at rafting down the river so we planned to tip them but by the end they decided to outright ask for their dinner to be paid for which we weren't too impressed with! Awkwaaaard! We were then taken to the elephant show which we were extremely dubious about due to the training processes! However, it was lovely to see them all together holding each others tails like in the Jungle Book (there are 43 on site ...

... excited for. This left us feeling a little disappointed for a couple of reasons. Although the elephants were amazing and clearly well looked after it wasn't quite what we expected as it makes out as a 'volunteer' you'd actually be helping out looking after the elephants but it turned out to be a pretty standard tourist attraction! Also our cash cards would not work at the park and we did not have enough cash to pay for the full 2 days and they didn't seem to ...

... developed a deep friendship that is unlike any other; this kind of friendship in the U.S. is rarely seen, if at all. We can have a class with someone that we just met, talk with them in class and say hello when walking by, but once that class is over we forget about them and ignore them rather than catch up and rekindle the friendship. It really amazes me that we are all human and yet we are polar opposite.
