Lovely little place on Rat Vitti (i think that's how you spell it). The staff leave you well alone which is great, the setting is lovely and it's near loads of good stuff so all good in that respect. THe rooms are a little spartan but hey, I didn't come to Thailand to spend all day in my room.

Bathing with elephants

... a 2 1/2 year old boy. He was feeling a little antisocial because he was having stomach problems so they had given him medicine. Poor guy. We began our day by walking to this open area to feed the elephants bananas and get to know them. Our guide, whose name I can't remember, told us that they are Indian elephants so they don't get as large as African elephants and only the boys grow tusks. Their heads are also a different shape with a large rounded part at the ...

... an overpriced small Chang each, we settled down next to it. As there was no one around or even in the pool, Hannah decided to just jump in anyway- why not, we've paid to be at the bar and it made no difference whatsoever to anybody. We got a couple of photos in before the jobsworth porter strolled over and asked what room we were in, to which I responded none of them. He then fetched a man with a tie on who swiftly handed me a miniature clipboard demanding 820 baht for Hannah's ...

... The sun was not just setting in Chiang Mai; it was also setting on our adventure which left me with mixed feelings. There's a saying in Setswana (one of the official languages in South Africa) that "se sa feleng se a tlhola" which basically means that nothing in life lasts forever. I've always known that the day would come when we would be packing our bags one last time and preparing for that long haul flight to South Africa; but on the one hand I've become so used to our ...

... milk. Can you guess which one?! We then sat down to eat our first dishes of the day. Very good it was too. Was nice that we could try each other's and get to experience more dishes. We then moved onto the main dishes. green curry for me, red curry for Helen. This involved mixing the chicken with our pastes and slightly cooking them. Then adding a variety of spices and herbs. Then adding the coconut milk and soy etc to give it ...

... having my clothes washed, dried, and ironed or will I be glad I can just throw everything in at once and not have to wand wash things?

We had rice porridge, snow peas, and pineapple for breakfast. Three of us had second breakfast too! It was so nice to have a morning to catch up once we got back to town. In the afternoon we joined all the freshmen students for a ...
