... We went over to the northern one first where Wat Si Chum was, it's in the lonely planet book - a huge Buddha inside a stone room with no roof, it's pretty cool when you see it! They're all pretty awesome even though they're ruins, to think how old they are and how long it must have taken to build these things! This history goes back to when this country was in it's peak, at the same time our country was going through the Black Plague. Crazy how roles reverse all the time ...

... the ruins enclosed behind these massive trees were also rather noteworthy. There were many ancient pagodas, statues of Buddha, temples and other brick structures of yesteryear that were of an uncertain purpose (too dilapidated to discern). Many of these buildings were placed around small lakes, adding much to their appeal. We spent many an hour riding around the area, admiring the history.

... suddenly opened up to reveal a sea of crop fields being harvested by hand (in this heat!?!) and in the background rose green tree covered hills. The whole view was a mixture of greens, browns and blues all softened by the haze. This is what I had been waiting to see, and in my mind not city scape or golden Wat will ever compare. I just had to stop and take it in before I got the camera ...

... taking the obligatory photos I tried to capture him so I could put him outside but he wasn't having it. He jumped all over the place until finally hiding in the water drain in the wall/floor which was the perfect size for him. From that moment I had to always close the bathroom door just in case as I didn't want anything creeping into my room. I slept super well that night.

Woke up the next morning not wanting to get out of my super comfy bed but it was time to head ...
