Ottimo hotel, ottima accoglienza, ottimo confort!

Our morning started at a leisurely 830, which was a nice change from the previous early departures the past few days. We met our Jaipur guide Hammit, found our driver Rennu and were off for a day in the Pink City.

This was a very early morning, as we wanted to see the Taj Mahal at sunrise. We hauled ourselves out of bed for our 515am pick up. It was a quick 10 minute ride to the point where no cars were allowed past. We learned from Anu that to preserve the Taj they have eliminated any motor vehicles within 1k and they have removed all manufacturing …

... clocked. Photos should be accompanying this. Check it out. We then moved on to what our Rickshaw driver called "Monkey Temple". Monkey Temple was on the wrong side of the tracks in Jaipur. And in Jaipur the wrong side of the tracks are on the left side. Plus the right side too. Wall to wall squalor, really. Shitsville, if you will. This particular suburb was particularly bad and particularly dirty and particularly odd. We were dropped off at the bottom of a ...

... complex the Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds was built by the poet king Sawai Pratap Singh for the ladies of the royal household to watch everyday life and processions in the city without being seen. Later in the day we will be visiting the City Palace but whilst the traffic is relatively light we take the opportunity to view the external facade of the five-storey building with its 953 delicately honeycombed ...
