          Pranav's 5th birthday

A travel blog entry by smaringanti on Sep 16, 2015

Short and busy 12 day trip for my 2 week vacation in third year of residency. Initially decided to visit sister in SFO but since it's been 4 years she visited India, we both planned to visit at the same time, co-incidentally for Pranav's 5th birthday. Days went by very fast hanging out with friends, cousins and finally birthday event. Birthday event was a grand success with good turn out of people from both Maringanti and Satuluri ...

By the time it hit 9pm, those who had arrived in the early morning hours were starting to fade and it was time to take the crazy drive back to the hotel. There was no sleeping in the car as even though it was Sunday night, the traffic was still insane and we all made sure our seat belts were firmly attached.

          Tomorrow...game face and work.

We saw little families trying to make a living, kids trying to play with broken toys they had found under broken glass and food that had ...

... I had to wake up at a certain time every morning to study when I knew I could at a certain time, I wouldn't even think twice about it. In the middle of the lesson Madhu asked if we would step outside to talk to her. Rios wasn't there today so it was just Katie, Jacci and I. Madhu went on to tell us that we are legally not allowed to teach the kids anything in the classroom or she would go to prison. We told her that we just wanted engagement with ...

Today I felt like a kid again playing outside with all of the neighbors-- heading in for dinner when the sun goes down. It was so nice.  The day didn't start out like this though. We decided to not wake up for breakfast and to sleep in for the first time!!! That was a nice change of pace. We woke up around 11 I'm pretty sure. We hung around and wasted time until lunch at 12:30 which we were pretty hungry for. It's really funny because for lunch and dinner everyone is ...
