... were hungover and tired so we stopped and got coffee and breakfast at Tim Hortons. Continued on to the ferry terminal where we were advised that the 10.30am ferry which we wanted to catch was full and we had to wait to 12.30pm for the next one. We thought it was bad karma for smuggling the boys in! The ferry is $50 for the car plus $17 per adult passenger. So instead of paying $100 for all 3 of us, I paid $70. I just hid them under my bed built in at the back and near the seats. ...

... so .... She laughed and said she hadn't done it but had heard it was interesting! Wondering what she meant by that we headed off ... Deciding to pull over for lunch along the way. Hmmm where? The roads were the windiest and scariest I've ever been on. There was no place to pull over at all that was relatively safe. The road trains tear along this curvy road and you just have to get out of their way. As we turned one bend we saw about four RVs and cars on the road ...

... Rocky Mountaineer, owned and run by a private tour company. We didn't actually have a glass top observation car - that's for the long trip to Jasper and Banff, and we were only on a day trip to Whistler, but it was lovely all the same. Croissant and yoghurt breakfast, host in each car, souvenirs, mints, ceremonial send off - they pulled out all the stops to make it memorable, and they did a great job.
