Last day on the slopes

... Grandma for that kind of luck: thanks Grandma.

The lift took me to Bad Gastein. I then had a race against time to taxi back to Angertal to return my gear. 10 minutes to spare, tight but a success none-the-less.

We attempted après ski at the umbrella bar, capacity 100, currently 200 people inside, one of whom was behind the bar. This was not the place for the thirsty. Patience was not optional. Waiting there though was. We went across the road to ...

Snowboarding day 5 - Off Piste!

A travel blog entry by don.vince on Jan 29, 2015

Great news: today is the day we are going to go off piste with Hannis! Hannis is the original snowboarder. Completely mad. Amazingly cool. He was itching to get away, the powder is better in the morning. "Waaaahhhhooooo!" was his warcry after being on the powder for just 10 seconds. He didn't stop hollering all morning. ... dubious pleasure of regurgitating the hot chocolate and rum in front of my classmates. It’s actually quite uplifting to have that many people splitting their sides belly laughing, you can’t feel sick for long and have to join in.

Regardless of whether it was the chocolate or the rum, I was happy to stick to water for the remainder of the day and night. As such my photographic evidence is of slightly better composition. ...

Snowboarding day 2

... a snowball on the back of your hand - to do this you won a beer, I won a beer, but I had it revoked since I had stood Julian up the night before: I’d expected I could convince my buddies to head to Bad Gastein for old times sake but we got distracted with Bad Hofgastein’s offerings.

The après ski was at umbrella. The chap who offered to look after my wig was still wearing it, good lad, I asked him to continue to ...
