... we got, the more the haze reappeared. Had not missed it while in Austria. Walked to our apartment which is near the old city walls and arena. It is modern in decor after a recent refurbishment. All mod cons and flash. Went to a restaurant suggested by our host, and were lucky with our timing as we virtually went straight in. Monday 13th October An easy tourist day today. Had a lovely breakfast and chat with the only other guest who gave us some good pointers for Italy. Walked down to Lake Wolfgang where we got the ferry across, a mere 300m, but I think too cold to swim. Rode up the Schafberg cog railway, originally built in 1893, to the top at 1782 m. Crossed over to look at the summer palace of the Habsburgs (of Česky Krümlov and Vienna fame) but there looked to be a photo shoot happening of the local fire brigade. We visited the "man" and "women" island. Before we entered the palace with the timed guided tour, we visited Konig Ludwig II Museum. It was actually very nice, especially we knew something about his life after visiting the famed Newschwanstein. The museum had many pictures and even Ludwig II's death mask and photo. ...
