I would recommend this place to anyone. The staff were cheaky and friendly, the other guests were so much fun and it is very fairly priced. It is town so it is an easy walk to the bars and the waterfront.

      Town Stroll

A travel blog entry by clyde90s on Jun 20, 2014

Having no way to enter Tongariro as they is no news of opening from the staff. We head to the hot spring near the Huka Falls. Pass by many residential lots and vast park to finally reach the spring under a bridge. Luckily two of them began to leave and I took off my clothes soak in it. Not quite used to it, I really loath the green slimy rocks …

      Bad Flu Day

A travel blog entry by clyde90s on Jun 21, 2014

I finally caught my flu, probably from last night drinking outside with the guys and also from the adrenaline activities days ago. Luckily there wasn't anything much to do here because the Tongariro Mountain hike is still closed.

I decided to just re-watch Lord of the Ring trilogy today. I grab someone's peanut butter from the kitchen …

Bear Grylls eat your heart out. Last week we trekked the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, cited as the best one-day tramp in the country due to it's spectacular and varied volcanic terrain. The 16km hike had us climbing over lava flows, crossing a crater floor, skirting active geothermal areas, and passing beautiful and serene emerald and blue lakes; …

Up and about at around half 8 this morning to glorious sunshine and so hot already! We packed up our things, which we can do in record time now I'm sure, and set straight off for Taupo to stay at the Rainbow Lodge. After a quick food shop at Pak 'n' Save we pulled into the camping area of the lodge and pitched the tents, really was not much room as …

One of the last things i wanted to squeeze in while I was in New Zealand was to go to Lake Taupo and perhaps do the Tongariro crossing, one of New Zealand's top rated day hikes. I flew back to Auckland on Thursday and made my way to my German friend Swantje's (pronounced Svan-tiay) host family's house where i would stay the night so we could take …
