... swimming, jumping off rocks, and letting the waterfall currents drag us downstream -- you know, nice safe fun! :-) After the swim dropped our core temps below 100, we began the trip back home, made a few stops to take photos, and a side trip through Port Douglas. On the way back home the skies started to darken and storms began to move in. This is a very stormy part of the year and we've been very lucky so far (aside from it being 1 million degrees). Because it was pouring we ...

... When you look at an aerial photo of Undara, the lava tubes can be clearly traced by following the pattern of green vegetation in the collapsed lava tubes as they snake across the countryside.   Our guide took us into three separate enclosed caverns accessed through collapsed portions of the lava tubes. The caverns and collapsed lava tubes are home to Mareeba rock wallabies, bats and a variety of insects and spiders (about 50 species of ...

... be impossible to sell our car in Cairns and we had done it on the 2nd day! A smug Dutch hostel guy had dryly wished us luck in selling our car, so that evening I gladly informed him that we had sold him! I embellished somewhat with the price but he'll not know that. Upon triumphant return from selling Wilson, and noting the irony in buying from an Irishman and selling to an Irishman, we booked a trip to Kuranda for the following day. Kuranda is a village in the mountains ...

... weights, we were sorted. Let the fun begin...

Our course included 5 dives, being: Buoyancy, Navigation, Deep dive, Night dive and Underwater Photography.

All up each dive was amazing in a different way.
Got to play with all sorts of fishies, sea slugs, nudibranchs, sharks and turtles..

On the 2nd day I was supposed to pack up and head back to Cairns, however I was lucky enough to be offered to stay another night with more ...

... Josh had his first sailing experience. Safely back on land we had some downtime in Airlie beach and then met everyone on the boat for the afterparty!

      Highlights of Aus thus far:
      - The discovery of Goon (boxed wine).
      - Whitehaven Beach - a truly unique and spectacular place (slightly ruined by the naked English lads in the sea).
      - Snorkelling/diving in the Great Barrier Reef.
      - All the wildlife seen - crocodiles, ...
