We decided upon a relaxed day today and just soak up some local culture and wildlife. We hired a car for the day and packed up our picnic and headed out in the direction of Port Douglas. It was a beautiful sleepy little town, with its main street lined with little wooden shop fronts selling clothes, souvenirs, hand made items, jewellery etc.
The girls found yet another little park to play on. There seems to be parks of some kind or other in every town for the children. Once the ...

We're up at 05.30 ready to pack and leave our room at the sharehouse (yay!). It hasn't been the best place to spend 8 nights as it's far too much like halls of residence for us and nobody locks the front door! It's quite nice one of the blue front amazon bird land on me. He stays a while chewing me backpack if ...

... lots of water) Falls, a picture perfect waterfall 18.3 metres high with a swimmable pool at the base. The challenge to swim under the falls was irresistible. A road trip to the top of Mt Hiphipamie with 280 degree views was impressive. Sharlene also took us to a crater that was formed during the creation of the earth. It was water filled but 80 metres deep, straight down and then goes somewhat horizontally into an unexplored area. The surface was covered with algae so it ...
