Teaching & Tutoring

... a month and a half. I have a month still to go. Looking forward to coming home and at the same time loving what is. And is for now is Nha Trang, the beach, the kids, the situation, the food, the Vietnamese. Life is good.

Odds and ends:
I really like it when my students call me "teacher."
I am tolerating my live-in situation. Thank God for my breathing exercises and Eckhart Tolle.
Next week, all week, I will be tutoring two students preparing to be interviewed for a Visa.
Aye aye aye!!!

... an 8- to 12-hour train ride from Danang to Nha Trang. When we went to a travel agency to book the tickets, the lady convinced us to take the overnight bus, which is apparently much more convenient. Moreover, the bus is brand spanking new, very comfortable with wider and longer berths and even a toilet on board. We let ourselves be convinced because we would save a day of travel (since the train doesn't run overnight).

That was ...

Sealegs..

... on the beach (hard life..). Did nothing really on the beach except from buying some sunglasses (as I'd lost 2 pairs now) for 15,000VND, around 50p (haggled down from 50,000VND - you reading this Alan Sugar?). Some real Armani sunglasses, for 50p! Almost too good to be true..

The next day we decide we really haven't been on enough boats lately and jump on a coat trip to the islands. Just off the first island we have a a chance to snorkel - a first for me - and ...

Nice place, but it seems things may have dropped off a bit since hosting the big event last year.

Despite these minor issues, we spent an amazing couple days in the sun sipping fruity cocktails, reading, and cultivating a slight addiction to Sudoku by the pool. Their pool was double the size of an olympic pool and adjacent to their own private beach. It was a nice break ...

Mama Linh's

... watched jerkbags stand and sit on the coral. Heres my thought: if a place is "protected" it means from people and we shouldn't be allowed to go there, very annoying. But I guess its necessary to stand on the reef so you can fix our mask. ugh. Anyway, lunch was entertaining, they brought out heaps of food and its polite in Vietnam for your host to bring more food than you can eat and its polite not to eat all of ...

Chilling on the beach

... pitch again.
On the second day we went to a large water/theme park which was on its own island. Was pretty expensive for vietnam but it was worth it. You take an oversea cable car (longest in the world) to get to the island. It was pretty high up so Ben was bricking it but he managed it ok. Was even beter coming back at nighttime as the towers were all lit up like little efifel towers. The waterpark a load of slides, two of which ...

A Quick Stop for Sunburn!

... to the beach for the day. The beach was beautiful. Really white sand and ************e else on there with us. At one point a fruit seller came over and I told her I wasn't interested. She took this as a challenge though and proceeded to pull on my arm and then whack me on the backside until I got up! We ended up buying a delicious Pineapple to get rid of her! It was worth it though. As usual I ended up burning myself on the back of my legs and the ...

Day 26 - Hoi An to Nha Trang

This morning was an absolute shocker, up at 4:30am for the alleged "5am" bus to the Cham ruins at My Son, as in "go on my son!"

CLEARLY that must be earlier than most of you slackers got up today?! ;)

As was horribly predictable, we sat and waited for the bus for ages. In fact ...
