    ... We took over in the midst of the southern alps and landed in the flat plains of Auckland. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time in the city to really do anything.     ... got to the top as our eyes had not adjusted at all. We all hopped off the bus and could not see much at all. Our guide (an American woman) appeared out of nowhere and started talking. The winds up there were crazy (they can reach up to 200kmph, apparently) and it was minus 9 degrees Celsius. Luckily, they had provided us with red light torches and huge Eskimo coats, so the darkness and cold barriers were overcome.
