    ... good view of Auckland's skyline and behind us was Rangitoto, another volcano. We planned to visit this the next day. We looked around and explored an old AA weapon emplacement before heading down to the beach. Nicole enjoyed looking around the rockpools then we started making our way to another hill.     ... waterproof, I regretted not having one last year, so figured bite the bullet and get me one.     ... best day to go. We had a lovely walk along the beach to some caves and picked some shells along the way. It got pretty warm too, first time the jumpers have come off! The sand in this area is black. Matty researched it and it's washed up from the volcanic eruption from the mountain we climbed near Taupo apparently.
