... local surfers. Our contained beachside cabin reminded us of Grandma Beth and her cozy house on the bay!

We spent our time in Auckland visiting museums with an historical bent. Motat was Ellie's favorite from our last trip to NZ and she was excited to revisit the historic village complete with school house, Victorian homes and shops, jailhouse and chapel. We also made it to Howick Historical Village - an expanded set of homes, shops, mills and ...

Tuesday 30th September: I braved driving a little further afield today and went to the other side of Auckland, which is about 40km away, it is so spread out here. I visited an area called Devonport which has a slight seaside town feel to it with an incredible view of the city ...

... break at the hotel for a little bit and then we drove over to Devonport. The sunset was cloudy and wasn't much so we went to Corelli's for dinner. I had a great roast beef dinner with potatoes and carrots, Jess had tomato soup.

We came back to the hotel real quick to get more coats and hats for the observatory. We got to the Stardome Observatory and it was pitch black, I guess they don't have street lights everywhere. The show started and ...
