Final day of vacay.

... How'd that happen? I ate the 7kg of food I imported... I didn't buy much except for some Icelandic rocks... (oohhhh). I prayed my navigational skills were correct because I didn't actually have a map of where the hotel was.. but awesomely I got to the right street and found it. The dude actually let me check in (sweeeeet). I am staying at Thon Hotel Slottsparken for a ridiculous 995NOK. How nice is it to have privacy though and zone out to television!

I ran in to my ...

Mårkk Alsøps Top Deck Scenic Scandi tour - Norway

... mounds for members of the upper classes buried hundreds of years ago. Three ships in varying condition were on display. The Tune ship dates from around 900AD, the Oseberg ship was built in the early 800s, and the Gokstad ship was built around 890. It was great to see these boats, and I was amazed at how good the condition of some of them was.

Following this I went to the Kontiki Museum, which was dedicated to the Kon-tiki ...

More sight-seeing than you can shake a stick at

... not as easy to manage as they were in Sweden or Denmark. Most of them are crooked. Now, add in large city buses, tour buses, city trains, and itsy bitsy narrow streets = it's a mess. During all of the confusion, I noticed that we had passed the US Embassy, but wasn't quick enough to grab the camera. I wonder if they have Diet Coke there instead of Coca Cola Light., hmmm... But we got there and parked just fine. Unfortunately, I was a little ...

... the history and culture of Norway you get Vikings, Folk stories and Trolls (ugly little things that were commercialised into the toys you played with as kids with funky coloured hair in hot pinks, greens and blues). It is a beautiful yet expensive country - it is not hard to identifying just how overpriced it is here in Norway- but by 5pm we were safely onboard and warm waving good bye to our northern neighbour on our way home again... vi ses, Oslo!!

... of the kitchen into our bedroom so we can cook in there. Maybe having a proper flushing toilet will seem too luxurious and we will be in the habit of going outside all of the time. Our housemates would love us! Geiranger is another narrow breathtaking fjord. It is scattered with waterfalls some up to 250m and a number of abandoned farms perched way up high on the mountains. Each farm has its own special story. Apparently one of the farms, situated high on a cliff edge, the only ...

THE STORY SO FAR

... such a hard life!! I must say that i do feel a little guilty that i didn't take in more of the sights but what can i say. One task i did manage to achieve was to book my bus onwards to Scandinavia. I had been mulling over the idea of going to Copenhagen and then Stockholm before arriving in Goteborg but with time starting to close in on me i decided i would bus the 21hours straight to Goteborg. Amsterdam and Denmark will always be there and are so easy to access from Ireland ...

Day 2 Tusenfryd

... a walk up Karl Johans street. I was a bit surprised to find it almost as crowded as in the day, It was nothing like Trondheim(that's the city where I live) where most of the streets are abandoned after 8 o'clock.... (Don't get me wrong, there's still nightlife here to, but not so centered in one place..) As we went to sleep that night we knew that the next day would probably be the most exhausting of the lot....

First Day in Oslo

... to me in Norwegian (which was a bit scary to me). I asked her if she spoke English and she said that she did, apologized for speaking to me in Norwegian like that and repeated what she was going to say. She wanted to know if I wanted butter for my toast or anything like that and I told her no thanks and she left. As weird as my meal sounded, it was actually quite good. The hamburger was actually tasty fried like that and ...
