On monday morning we got up early and toured the Vicksburg Military park, depicting a batttle for the Mississippi during the Civil war. there were lots of memorial stautues and a museum. In the afternoon we stoped in Indianola seeing the museum about BB King, continuing on to Clarksdale Ms seing the delta blues museum where muddy waters and other blues players had lived in the area

... with a larger variety of food. It was interesting to see some of the "southern" items on the buffet like collard greens, black eyed peas, catfish, jambalyaya and sausages. We received a coupon from the RV park for a free breakfast buffet at the casino. I'm sure it will be just as good.

Lots more has gone on since I last wrote but these are the highlights. I haven't had PC access in a while which is why you haven't heard from me. Til later ... be safe ... be well.

... I want to catch sunset over the Miss. River. To cut it short, doesn't happen, but I did get sunset over the final mile post of the Trace!!! YEAH!!! And I took pictures of some buildings and what not on the way into town. now I sit in Natchez at a nice tavern nextdoor to the Eola hotel. Tonight Iwill hit up Louisiana for a campground jsut over the bridge where supposedly they have laundry!!! PEACE from Natchez!!!

... as it is to me, always check the connector BEFORE you unpack and get settled in the room. The little clip that gives a proper connection seems to get broken off by careless people. Request a different room unless the hotel has a Plan B. The Holiday Inn & Suites had no Plan B for us. Copyright 2008, Round America and William M. Windsor

Well it has been several days since I updated this blog. From Boone NC we came down to Chattnooga just in time to miss the snow. It turned cold just as we were leaving, but we were so awe struck by the color on the side of the mountians that we did not care. From Memphis (or rather Marianna), we journeyed down the Mississippi, reading to one another occasionally from Mark Twain's "Life on the Mississippi" for a touch of culture. For much of the way, we knew that the great river was somewhere to our left, but sadly out of site. The need for levees, protecting property and farmland along the river banks is obviously greater than the need to satisfy tourists with a grand view as they travel ...

... at once, all in a matter of seconds. Compared to our fellow dinners we looked pretty pathetic as to the quantity we could eat but hey ......... We then headed towards the Vicksburg National park, this visit was for Brents benefit, he has been studying the history of the civil war for over a year and wanted to see the 16 mile long park, which was essentially one big battlefield. ... a successful shopping expedition we headed for Corinth, where we toured a civil war interpretive centre, then gave the bikes their inaugaral ride around the historic town. We meet some locals and even had a malt shake at an old time drug store, this particular store has been in the same family for 140 years, it was certainly like travelling back in time. We weren't sure where we wanted to camp last evening ...
