We spent 3 nights at a small hotel right on the main lake in Kerala, near to the area known as the "Backwaters". It was a wonderful place to watch the houseboats go by, see the typical Chinese fishing nets of Kerala, and watch local people catch fish and mussels. Magically, the fears of the previous evening seemed to have vanished on the morning of the big day! I was no more thinking about the wight of expectations, but more about having a good time.
