The flight was really good. Virgin is great internationally - new plane, comfy seats, good leg room, OK food and good staff. Our seats were fantastic so we were lucky. Watched some movies (Last Vegas loved it; Man of Steel, Lone Ranger - very funny; and Gravity - just OK. Not sure what the fuss is about! Then read so the 13 hours went quite quickly …
We went back to Universal Studios today (we had a 2-day pass). We knew it would be busier today because it was a Saturday. We were right! Lines for rides were much longer. Luckily we did all the rides the other day. Today we just wanted to take it easy and do the shows we had missed.
When we entered the park we were asked to fill out a …
Today we went back to the Hollywood area to see the Hollywood sign. You can really only see it from a bridge in Hollywood/Highland next to the Kodak Theatre. It was far away and small but we got photos. There were lots of Asian tourists around. On the platform where you could see the Hollywood sign, there was a lounge/couch made of stone that you …
Today Todd and I went to Six Flags. It took ages to get there. First we got a subway to Union Station. Then we got a Metrolink train from Union Station to Newhall Station (about an hour ride - it was out in the sticks). From Newhall we got a bus to the McBean Regional Transit Centre (about 15 mins) then caught a local bus to the entrance of Six …
Today we went to Universal Studios Hollywood. This is a theme park and a working film/TV studio. We arrived and got some photos. There was a crowd of people waiting to get in when it opened.
We did the horror house attraction first - basically it's like a haunted house; you walk through it and people jump out at you and stuff. It was …

Historical Traveler Reviews The Wilshire Hotel Los Angeles
It was OK
Not alot of channels on the TV, kind of a seedy neighborhood
I spent 3 weeks (business trip) in this Hotel between March and April 2005.
Nothing special. In a busy area of Koreatown. The front desk actually wanted to charge us $20 because we were sick and wanted to stay here an hour past check out. I'm glad I got this hotel through Priceline. Not worth full price.
We loved this hotel. Very clean and centrally located. There is a metro-link station across the street and a bus stop in front of the hotel. Fast food and nice restaurants are in the immediate area. Our room was clean and well appointed. We will stay here again.
Just returned from a four-day-trip to L.A. The Radisson provides all the necessities for a vacationist: spacious rooms (twin bed), clean and well-maintained however a little bit worn out. Nice lobby, average restaurant, small outdoor pool. But you don't come to L.A. to swim in the hotel pool, do you? And then this hotel is the best in town if you want to explore L.A. without a car. Why? Right in front of the hotel is a bus stop and the express bus goes all the way to Santa Monica. Even better: just across the street is the Metro station Wilshire & Normandie, and with the Metro you can reach Hollywood, Downtown, even Pasadena. All for 3 bucks a day. You can even reach LAX airport by Metro - for $1.25 one-way. If you plan to go to L.A. and don't want to spent whole lot of money on rental cars, choose the Radisson as your place to stay. I definitely will stay there again!
Okay But Not Great
This hotel is ok. Don't plan on anything fancy. I was really glad I had paid a cheeper price for this hotel through priceline.com. It is in a decent part of town. There is a small fitness center with 2 treadmills, bike and stairstepper along with some hand weights. My room was small, had a moldy shower curtin and wallpaper coming off the walls. It is approximately 5 1/2 miles to the Mann's Chineese theater, Ripleys Believe it or not & the Kodak building. I would not suggest walking there, drive and park it will cost you a couple of dollars but the area is not very safe after dark.
Loved it....will go back there anytime
I just got back from a 5 night stay at the Radisson and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's in a good area and I felt safe there. The staff are very friendly and the room was clean and quiet. The only downfall was the toilet. It was one of those 6 litres/flush, low water use toilets and they don't work well at best. Anyway it had to be repaired a couple of times because the tank would not fill up with water. No problem, I just called down to the desk and someone was there within 5 min and fixed it right away, even at 12:30am. I was impressed. I plan on going back to LA next summer and will definitely stay there again. I also got a reduced room rate through Expedia.
I first got there I was treated with no respect I carried my own bags. When I got to the front desk again the man was rude. I had called before to conform and reserve my room non-smoking room. Guess what I got a smoking room. I went to the so called workout room I went in and to my suprise it had no wights for a decent workout I am a well fit man and was looking foward to stay in the workout room most of my stay. I was in the Unicom class so I did not have time to go see the city and wake up early. Needless to say I did not get to workout like I wanted to I worked out in my room it had more resources to get a workout. I went down to the lobby to see where I could go entertain my self, again no helpI asked for directions, and suggestions there was no help again with attitude. I went on the streets walking around asking people on the street and got a greater response from the people who did not have a job to help me. My time in the room I took advantage of the free trial of music video, and I was charged for it. My sleep was so bad there was a cover under the sheet and it would wrinkle up and give me the most unconfortable sleep. I was on the 9th floor and still heard the noise on the streets. I also found out that the other people had got a better deal with out the Unicom discount. So now I say I will stay at the Radisson Wilshire never again.
Not so good
Pretty rundown in a part of town that doesn't have a lot to offer.
Conference rooms are tatty and a bit seedy.
Nice place, good location
Nice place, not pretentious. Nice lobby. Good value and location, close to everything I wanted to see - Hollywood, Beverly Hills and downtown. Parking wasn't bad for this area, $14 a day.
