Rather than going directly to Oslo we drove south so we could travel up to the city along the the eastern side of ...

About 3 hours on the road today leaving Norway and into Sweden. Lots of very pretty lakes and farming on the rolling hills. Mainly dairy type farming and corn in this area. Karlstad is a pretty town but there are not a lot of historical things to visit. The church dates back to 1737. There are lots of pretty waterways and canals. Just before entering Karlstad we came upon an Ikea store. At least the food was reasonable priced there unlike most of the food in ...

After completing several levels (with many failed attempts), we were summoned to lunch in the dining hall. We thought that it would be a traditional Swedish lunch menu, but were surprised to learn that lunch would be Tacos. We learned that Swedes are obsessed with tacos and eat them once a week, usually on Fridays.

... costing roughly $30CAD for a one way ticket to Karlstad.

We arrived in Karlstad at noon, and our host student from the University of Karlstad met up with us and showed us the city centre, and how to travel by bus to the University and to our apartment accommodations near campus. The city's main square is called Stora Torget, and is surrounded by cafes, restaurants and a courthouse. The population of Karlstad is under 100,000, so it had a ...
