finally located full strength beer!

Kenny writes:
Damn school kids woke us & Jas up at 1.30am! Anyway they were just having fun ( and without Jas we probably would have joined them!) and eventually p*ssed off someplace else. Little bit cloudy morning but nonetheless still picturesque. We managed to get out of the camp site at a record 11.30 am this morning which could even be further improved upon given that this was a complete pack up including the van awning and the tent. I took the liberty to do a spot of ...

Early morning by the lake - day of relaxation

... grounds are stunning with its own little beach and wooded forest and the waters of lake vanern weren't too cold, we might even consider a dip later...

Our gorgeous serenity was then only ruined by 2 bus loads of high school students. Damn... ah well kind of nice to have some more people around.

We had a game of mini golf in the afternoon, it seems big over here as there is a course at every ...

... in the Tanum region are a Unesco world heritage site. There are over 3000 petroglyphs across 100 panels located across 5 distinct areas along a 25 km stretch and Vitlycke is the centre of the area and the Vitlyckehall is the largest flat rock of nordic bronze age petroglyphs in Scandinavia. The drawings depicts boats, elk, humans, birds, weapons and scenes of everyday life. Carved from about 1500- 500 BC, and about 3000 years ago this area was actually by the sea shore ...

Sweden Yah!

... about 3h West of Stockholm. Our friends Lina and Johan, and their new baby Naemi took us to their home in Edeby, North of Karlstad. They found an old house on the river and have been restoring it for the past few years into a beautiful place worthy of a magazine. We were very excited for a week without any schedules or sights to check out. It was really nice to just relax.

Near the house is a bike trail (did I say relax?) that ...

Two nights in Karlstad

... for a second time. boring now! The highlight of the night was actually talking to the Swedish guy who sat next to me at the concert, we had a good chat about the history and whatnot of the Karlstad/Kristinehamn area and similarities between Norway-Sweden relations and NZ-Aus relations. I was jealous that he lived in Sweden. Back to Norway now. In truth I'm not exactly thrilled about this, but I think getting out of the cities will be a good idea so this is my intention! cheers, -mike

Smile You're in Sweden!

... years old. thats quite old. Other than that I have been relaxing and enjoying the quaintness and pretty old town feel and cheap food... I can afford to eat again! There is a big event on here which has just started today, the annual go-kart races which go for four days. They race around the main town square with the finish line right outside the tourist office where I am now. I ...

... our Sweden through the groupstage, where it all came to an end, but our trip had just started and we went on to explore other parts of europe for 16 days. The countries we paid a visit were Italy, France, Spain, England and Scotland. My next trips will be a cruise to the finnish town Åbo and about 2 weeks later Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas. 'til I return!

The start of an adventure

19 minutes past midnight and we are leaving Karlstad by a bus that is taking us to Örebro, where we'll change to another bus that will take us to Stockholm Skavsta Airport in Nyköping. In about 17 hours we'll hopefully be in Innsbruck in some pub or fan-area where we can view the game between Sweden and Spain.

Karlstad - Home of Bicycle Lanes and Quaint Houses

... us on takeoff and landing. The SAS planes have a fantastic feature where they place two cameras on the nose of the nose of the plane - one looking forward and one looking down. It seems a little more reassuring when you can see the path ahead of you as the plane cruises down the runway ( no debris or stray animals blocking the plane.) When the clouds aren't in the way you can see the land below you without straining your ...

... daypack and put it in my jeans pocket. I am not keen on us getting mugged and being defenseless with Chris around. Amanda managed to make Stockholm feels like traveling to Thailand or Indonesia all over again. We reached Stockholm at 5.15pm. We opted for the Ice Bar and Old Town tour and Amanda took us through the old town highlighting the interesting architect found here and its history. We soon reached the Ice Bar at the Nordic Sea Hotel. Absolut Ice Bar ...
