... 281; brzydkiego miasteczka).
Soltun Folkehøyskole, Evenskjer, Norway babbySee previous entry. Train departed Narvik 1525 arrived Lulea 2240. Spoke to two Dutch girls at train station in Narvik. Ran into them several times along the way -- on the train, in Lulea, Haparanda, Tornio. By far the most unfriendly travelers I ve run into yet. Never a nod of recognition. Almost hostility. Don t know why. Curious. Never anything like it. Almost all others I ve met at least civil, most pleasant and frindly communicative.
Narvik, Norway bitenagooly... the hills and forests seem to be trapping the city by the harbour but my first impressions while walking the streets that evening were not anywhere near as complementary. I found it quite grey, drab and run down in parts but what really disappointed me was the amount of litter on the streets. It was as bad as Dublin on a Saturday morning after the Friday nights out and it was certainly a far cry from the pictures i had seen in books and from shows on television. Sure there some ...
Narvick, Norway talamarko... the mountains, smearing the clouds with orange and pink, and then arose again. In the morning, we drove a while longer straight through to Norway. No need to stop at the border, just followed the signs "nothing to claim." We passed through picturesque towns with no real destination in mind. We took highways, winding cliff-side trails, dirt roads and dead-end residential streets. We passed children with rosy cheeks wandering the ...
Narvik, North Norway, Norway kyle-and-lisa... highlights of Narvik is the Ofotbanen railway. A journey that takes you up in to the mountains alongside the fjord sided cliff, birch forests and rocky plateau. Once you reach the border you can walk back towards Narvik following the Rallarveien, a popular hike that is along the old Navvy trail (Navvy were labourers that helped transport the iron from Kiruna to Narvik and the construction of the railway ...
Narvik, Norway sd0744... the importance of a hot sauna on a cold Arctic night. What made the experience all the more interesting was breakfast the next morning-- and knowing what each of your tablemates looks like in their birthday suit. You could end wars with this stuff. I spent Christmas behind a pack of huskies traveling through the mountains on a sled. Quite an experience to witness one of the more unruly breeds be so willing to "follow the leader" pulling my ...
Abisko, Sweden ashortle... worried me. We tried to fish a little bit but didn't have much luck and we lost most of our lures. The weather was mostly bad -- cold and drizzly but we were getting used to it. Narvik is north of the arctic circle which means it gets very cold in winter (when the sun stops shining). Even though is part of Norway is so far north it doesn't get too cold because the warm gulf stream keeps things nice and warm (relatively speaking).
