... There were a lot of stops along the way with scenic overlooks, hiking spots and restaurants. We had a German lunch of bread and sausage at the cafe next to Lake Mummelsee, and did a short 2 km hike on a trail leading to a waterfall. We got some really beautiful pictures, and thoroughly enjoyed seeing some ...

The second stop into the Black Forest region was the Maulbronn Abbey, a Monastery built sometime in the 1300s. The pamphlet we got mentioned it was over 800 years old, but I'm getting confused as some components were a little younger than that, like 600 years old. In any case, it was incredible. Our first stop on the way to the Black Forest region was Heidelberg, at the suggestion of our neighbor. What an adorable old German city. Where we parked, you could see Schloss Heidelberg looming above the city. Very cool. From there, we just walked through the old down taking in the architecture, then took a bridge across the Necker river, had some lunch at a fun little French cafe, then headed out so we could make the Monastery as ...

Although I had intended to getting this out while we were in Heidelberg, sightseeing and travel took precedence. We are now in Anncey about 50 K south of Geneve. Another wonderful old central section right on Lake Anncey. The ridding has been spectacular. Until today the weather has been unusually warm. We were able to ride up towards Mont Blanc yesterday passing many of the ski hills we have heard about over the years. We have been ...

... 160; Once we arrived in Heidelberg, we dropped our bags off at the hotel and headed into the main city precinct to spend a few hours sampling what Heidelberg had to offer.  Some of Heidelberg's highlights: Kellie's number one highlight was the hot chocolate. She was given a cup of hot milk and a chocolate block on the end of a small wooden spoon which was placed into the hot milk and stirred around. Delish. Upon walking into a shop, the shopkeeper would greet us in German, ...
