... twice, but it was impressive none the less. Much was underground by gas light. Thee caves were actually quarry caves where the limestone was removed by farmers and used in local buildings and also the Church domes. This tour was also by gas light and our guide left us in the darkness for a few moments just to experience true darkness. Although we only walked for 1 hour in the cave system it's ...

... pub called Ons te Huis in Diest. Here we also encounter our first assault on the senses of cigarette smoke. We were Overwhelmed after having been away from it for so long. Most everyone is smoking, including the owner. We make our way through 8 small tastings of some really great beers and one I thought tasted remotely like dishwater. Rather than the judging like we do back home, they have a rating scale strictly based on taste so ...

... set but I missed Sigur Ros. Spent the rest of the night with my Walloonian friends chatting and laughing. Woke up the next morning, packed up and then it started raining. I think I was very lucky with the weather for that weekend. Belgium has notoriously bad weather. It rained the night before I arrived and as I was leaving, but not for the three days in between. I think that may have been the only three days in a row that it did not rain in ...
