      ... One bookstore in particular gets my attention. It is set up in an old church. The walls are covered with book shelves and there is a restaurant at the back where I imagine people once took communion.

      ... master tells us that their market day is on Wednesdays. So we seem out of luck for sightseeing. Afie-the-shopper is disppointed, except that she found plastic punchos, which is the start of a stragegy in this weather.

Our tour guide is great and we get a thorough explanation of the city's history, main architectural and cultural attractions, as well as gain a good understanding of the politics surrounding this country. Problems between the two main linguistic groups: sound familiar?? There are some pretty comparable issues going on within both Canada and Belgium.
