Ystadveien 1 Haugesund, Rogaland, Western Fjords, Norway, 5538, 5286-1000
... 3 hours which includes driving in multiple tunnels and on one ferry. We had a mixture of sun and rain and it's a beautiful small city with a nice harbor surrounded by seven hills. There is a small section still standing from the middle ages when Bergen was a key player in the Hanseatic League. We ate lunch at the lively fish market; fish salads and fish and chips and walked around the old part of town. We went to the Leprosy Museum, since I am ...
Sveio, Hordaland, Norway camilla.lothe... ferry rides. I arrived at the Amoy Bed and Breakfast around 2100 and was pleasantly surprised. The proprietor insisted I eat waffles and coffee. The grounds contain several cottages each holding 4 guests. The cottages directly abut the sea. My cottage was already inhabited by 3 guests.
... painted timber dwellings with picket fences and weatherbeaten shrubs in the garden. This is a community exposed to the harsh elements of the North Sea which today look benight with hardly a ripple. Espevær continues to be a thriving fishing village with a rich in history. In the mid-1800's the islands were a thriving community housing more than 20,000 people during the herring shoals. By comparison Bergen, Norway's biggest ...
Espevær, Norway evasolo... 12 people. It was a very relaxing weekend - dinner and drinks on Friday night, trip around the fjord by boat on Saturday, movies and dinner in the evening, and then a trip home on Sunday. The cabin was great. I wish that I would have discovered this one sooner!
Vatlandsvag, Norway klh1July 5th 2005 Update on Norway On June 29th I arrived in Norway. My first glimse of the city was amazing. There were mountains on both sides of us with a city in between. There is NO flat land, this is all mountain. The houses are built on the sides of the mountains, it's so weird to see. First thing I took a tour of the city and learned a few historic facts about the place. Then I spent the afternoon wandering, looking, exploring Bergen. Just like Iceland, this place was very ...
Bergen, Norway ashleysas... came out in the states about 2 months ago. I had already seen everything else that was playing or had no intention of ever seeing it: Batman, The Pacifier, Monster in Law, Saved, and Star Wars. So we decide to go to the matinee because it is supposedly cheaper. Well to get into the matinee here is 80 Kroner about $12.30 USD. When you pay for the ticket the teller assigns you a seat in the theater, I think I like ...
Bergen, Norway meldog13... the best description I can come up with. The water was a dark blue but glassy, you could see the mountains reflecting in it. The mountains were green and covered with trees as far as you could see, it is such a welcomed change from gray Iceland. We arrived at the dock at 7:00 a.m. and were cleared to leave the ship by 9:20 a.m. Me and my roommate Britney along with another law student Katie decided to go explore the city for a couple of hours before we had ...
Bergen, Norway meldog13... my Nokia was at its highest everywhere and stayed that way no matter where I was in Norway. It was definitely better than Singapore where signal can be lost in an expressway or a slightly rural area (hello telecoms why can't you cover a small country) or Australia where mobile signal will be lost somewhere between Sydney and Hunter Valley. To get to Bergen, we have to hopped on ferries intermittently instead of following the long fjords shorelines. We reached Bergen by noon ...
Bergen, Norway ricochet... water will reach about 20 degrees Celcius. But it is more realistic to say that you have 16-17 degrees. But it is sufficient (especially when the sun has heated you for some time). There are some museums in Stavanger and I would like to say a few words about the Oil museum. I know that it sounds strange but Stavanger is the oil capital in Norway. The oil industy has meant a lot to the development of Stavanger and Norway in general and this is an industry that has been going on for ...
