- In the plane, I saw Flight of the Conchords TV-series! See them live at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGOohByt KTU (Business Time), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGoi1MSG u64&feature=related (Humans Are Dead), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbbxA8a_ M_s&feature=related (Hiphopopotamus vs Rhymenoceros), etc, etc :) You just can't miss the 4th best gangsta-folk parody duo in New Zealand!! :-D - Coming from the airport to the hotel, the taxi driver was going 120 km/h in the 80-zone a...
Dubai, United Arab Emirates eixSo - on the map you can see: (1) Where we live - Radisson SAS Dubai Media City - the house with 2 shallow towers, connected with a tunnel on the 3rd floor level. We are living in the tower which is just next to the roundabout, the street corner tower (West Tower) ;-) (2) Where we went the first day, registered for entrance cards for a week, got the cards, and then found out that we will be working in the other office for the week :) - The closer NSN office. (3) Where we actually work - and wh...

DUBAI! Like Vegas, only WAY more expensive.
The cheapest hotel within 5 miles of the Dubai Airport? $550 a night! The minibar might as well be a safe. The airport terminal is like a gleeming, brilliantly lit movie set. Dubai is home of the world's best hotel, the Barq el Arab, the only 5 star hotel anywhere. Brunch is $150, plus drinks, even alchohol! I managed to crash ...
Dubai, Dubayy, United Arab Emirates austinairwaves... buildings, the next one even nicer than the other one, but there is only one problem......they are all empty and not finished!! Even the recession hit Dubaaii as well. You could not even get close to them as the streets surrounding the buildings were all still in sand and rubbish. So on t.v. it looks like waauuw...but in real it´s not. But still impressive the way they all set it up, and I believe that one day it will be the new city in the world.
<br ...
Dubai, United Arab Emirates paulyandblondy... a few bevvies....until they gave me the bill and it cost about 7quid! flippin heck. so i sipped my corona on my own and made my exit, bedtime! I might have nearly been robbed by some local arabs trying to make a few dirhams on gold or taxis, but now I know who really robs you!

The next day I checked out, and headed for the beach, on the Big Bus!! I also stopped off for a "fry up" at a cafe i had spotted the day before. sounded spot on, but was a tad ...
Dubai, United Arab Emirates lfichter... and was treated by how i looked, like i had nothing. Granted I looked a little hippyish and scruffy as I came through customs but I didn't expect the treatment i received. I was pulled into a little room, had my passport removed, asked loads of weird questions about where I had been and where i was going, had the small bag i had on me rifled through and had my 'person' checked. I will leave how that went down to your ...
Dubai, United Arab Emirates freetime... airport when we were going through what I thought to be the most unsecured area trying to get to our flight to Dubai. What a debacle that was! She and her husband live in *******, but she was heading to India for a wedding in December. Really great gal - I hope we stay in touch when she returns to Atlanta. Not having much time to organize with my Dad about where I'd be picked up, he not having flown into Dubai ...
Dubai, United Arab Emirates hlminer... me in the direction on Dubai creek where i went for a walk... I ended up at a tourist thing i'd read about - Sheikh Saeed al-Maktoums house. He was the grandfather of the current ruler and he built the house in 1896... It was in bad shape until they renovated it and made it into a tourist ...
Dubai, United Arab Emirates chooklotto... our way back to the creek, we jumped onto the water taxi's that put-put away across the creek all day long. We reached the other side, Bur Dubai. After looking around more markets and a few Mosques, we reached the Al Fahidi Fort, which is now the Museum of Dubai. Has a pretty good hands on approach to the history of Dubai, especially the creek, and set in a unique building. Recommended for anyone who is bored of just sun, sand and shopping. We also spent the ...
