Last day - a bit of a wreck, but I loved it
Well, I've had my last day and I'm packing my bags ready to leave. This week has been a major deviation from my regular running. According to my marathon training plan, I should have done 52 miles on flat or slightly undulating roads around Hertfordshire. Instead, I've chosen to do 47 miles, mostly on mountain trails at altitude. My legs have been battered, pummeled and stretched to within an inch of their active existence, ...
Day 5 - Just like Scotland: mountains & rain

When they're older they'll thank me. - Find the biggest hill in Hitchin, sprint up it to appreciate how relatively easy it ...

After 15 min's or so, the instructor gave me the ropes, and I found it quite easy to control. Finished off with some 360 degree spins and a fast landing. Day ...
Day 2
One of the great things about mixing with other obsessive runners, whether at the club or on a specialist holiday like this, is the gems of knowledge you pick up. The sort of anecdotal tips from people who've experienced the latest running shoes, or tried the latest supplements or read a particularly good book or magazine. For example, one of my fellow runners is a Pharmacist, and he has recommended a concoction (which he also uses) to help combat the fatigue I get during high ...
