... and a bar/lounge car. At dinner we discovered all the glassware was made of the same beautiful crystal, and that the harpist had followed us on board and was playing while we ate.

The train has a gentle rocking motion and is not very noisy so it will be interesting to see how we sleep. We have been supplied with ‘sleeping drops’ in our cabin – vodka – hopefully it will not be needed!

The next day we headed to Oswiecim, the former location of a network Nazi concentration and extermination camps, where Birkenau and the more well known Auschwitz camps are now museums.
