      The Best So Far

We left Perth 2 months ago. We have stayed in many hotels and B&B. The Radisson Blu in Zurich Airport certainly rates at the best that we have stayed in so far.

It has a large bedroom with a king size bed, desk, 2 comfortable chairs, large TV, mini bar which we could stock with our own food, tea and coffee making facilities, a large bathroom with a heated towel rack.

The breakfast was excellent and they had a well stocked bar. The restaurant had a good menu but it was expensive, but apparently all restaurants in Switzerland are.

Darum sagen wir jetzt See You in Vegas

I went inside to use the bathrooms and discovered a whole fascinating inner sanctum of grand architecture and exhibitions that were also worthy of mention in the travel guides but which I no longer had the time to explore. I headed back to the station and caught a train to the airport. When I landed several days ago, I had been too preoccupied with my onward journey to appreciate how splendid and immaculate this airport is! My flight was delayed so ...

... night train from Zurich to Vienna was quite fun haha, took over the whole cabin since we 'pushed' out the other 2 people; see it was a cabin for 6, we had 4 but EVERY OTHER CABIN only had 2 people...so it was like, one massively over crowded cabin and 10 empty ones. So we strongly suggested that it would be wiser for them to occupy a less full cabin, by using all the luggage racks (which we had to anyway) and taking off our stinky shoes...though that one we ...

Zurich has been very nice, a lovely city, except for the massively over the top price tag on everything. The word ‘cheap’ in Zurich is impossible.

We arrived in Hongg, after an hour in horrible peak hour traffic that really let down Felix’s expectations of Swiss organisation and were warmly greeted my Marco and Manu. Marco is the brother of Jan, therefore also being a cousin of Felix’s father. Hongg is actually the name of the area, ...

... highest point is about 3 hrs round trip. We have exactly 3 hrs before the last gondola down the mountain so we go for it. The view is almost as breathtaking as the thin air. We make it to the top and snap some picks as I carve Matt + Jennie in the bench at the summit (corny but had to be done). Now we scramble back down amongst the cow bells of the hundreds of cows a thousand feet below and make our way to the gondola. ...
