... sea shells although there are precious little offerings in this area. A few families have their children stripped to the diapers and the young toddlers play in the sand and want to get buried like big brother. There are sailboats on the horizon and an occasional wind surfer but not a lot of wind today so they are moving quite slowly through the waves. An eyrar of swans guard the shore in one area ...
Sopot, Baltic Coast, Poland carpefelineI am not a hot chocolate drinker. Maybe one or two Swiss Miss packets in a 2 or 3 year period is about enough for me and then I need enough marshmallows to totally take over the chocolate. So a couple of years ago (already!), traveling in Croatia, one of the other tourists (Thank you Heather!), got a cup of hot chocolate at a roadside restaurant. I was intrigued to see that ...
Sopot, Baltic Coast, Poland carpefeline... just don’t care anymore? Or are we truly sometimes invisible? Is anyone else invisible too? As we get older, do we get more invisible? If this is true, why can’t I be invisible and walk onto airplanes and get free rides? Why can’t I be invisible when I want to be? What does the future look like if we slowly fade away to invisibility and no one sees us at all?
Sopot, Baltic Coast, Poland carpefeline... is a piece of green amber. Hubby found an amber elephant which was a bit pricier than he desired but he hardly ever finds anything for a souvenir so it is going home with us.

Wandering and wandering back around the town, through the market to pick up some food for the train trip on Saturday and back to Sopot and the hotel. Tomorrow it will definitely be ocean viewing and pier walking.
Gdańsk, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland carpefeline... gdzie" is "where" in Polish should you ever have the occasion to search for the number 106..

Next time I will pay the extra 20 cents and just buy from the driver. Remember that old game Frogger? I put my quarter in the machine and jaywalked across all the lanes of speeding Volkswagens and tram tracks and found the stop somehow amidst decayed sidewalks and mud. I turned to my right and saw a crosswalk that I could have used if I had just ...
Gdansk, Baltic Coast, Poland atlpilot36... entertained. Had a pizza each for lunch, which cost half what the same would cost in Edinburgh or most European capitals. The Highland and Green Gates were very pretty. Lots of shops and stalls selling amber jewellery. Had a quick stop at the Solidarity Square on our way back to the ship.

Gdansk, Baltic Coast, Poland matt_and_ames... bakery and Don got an eclair, I got something that tasted like pizza bread with pizza sauce and cheese and they were very good. We checked out the crystal - beautiful, but I have no way to get it home. Poland is famous for its crystal and art glass. After about an hour or so of that we were done with being wet, my hair was soaked because I couldn't keep it inside my hood, my feet were soaked, and I was soaked. We headed back ...
Gdansk, Baltic Coast, Poland hagathaNote to Self!!!..........never get a bus from Vilnius to Gdansk ever ever again! Arrived in Gdansk tired and emotional, but nevertheless excited about our first stop in Poland. During our bus trip we met an American hitchhiker girl who was couch surfing her way around the Baltics (crazy). We then proceeded to walk for miles in the scorching sunshine trying to speak Glaswegian to the locals to find our ...
Vilnius, Poland gorbalsontour... too. (Let me know if anyone is up for touring around Eastern Europe. If Scott can't get vacation, I may be looking for a travel buddy...) The world has changed so much in the past twenty years. None of those nations (Czech Republic, Slovakia, etc..) existed when I began college a few years ago & the USSR still existed. Now, there are new nations all over Eastern Europe and those are very places I intend to visit before Wal-Mart comes in and opens a store on every corner.
Gdansk, Poland ambough... Sopot. We met these Polish dudes on the train. We bought some beers, pounded them in the park and then went into this night club. Shots of polish vodka mixed with beer pretty much did us in. Trains stopped running, so I partied till early morning and got back at 5:30am. I was way glad to see my bed. Good night, just a bit sketchy.
