My only concern with our experience in Santiago is that the Mercado Central where the public market is located is a tourist trap. There are actually several public markets housed within a few blocks however, if you go to that first market you really miss out on the really authentic Chilean market place with their vast array of seafood, fruit ...

It should also be said that I was absolutely exhausted after getting no sleep on the 10 hour flight from Auckland that my brief tour of what I did see was edged with the irritated bias that I really just wanted to go to my hotel and sleep and forcing yourself to march around to try and get a feel for somewhere, especially when you are bone tired, is not the best way to endear you to a place

After the wine festival, we headed back to Santiago. We had one last group dinner, this time at a middle eastern restaurant, to cap off Santiago-fest. Scott, Chris, Jules, me, Efrain, Alma and Senor Airpaze Lopez all had a terrific time. We couldn't believe it was over so quickly, but we will definitely have to do it again sometime.

Dans le bus en direction de Santiago de Chili, je discute avec ma voisine qui me recommande d'aller à Viña Del Mar. En effet, Valparaiso semble être une ville portuaire sans beaucoup d'intérêt tandis que Viña Del Mar est plus moderne et plus animée avec la mer et la plage. La route qui traverse al cordillère des Andes pour arriver à Santiago n'est pas très longue mais nécessite tout de même une nuit de voyage à cause du passage de la douane ...

We made a quick stop in Santiago before heading off to Valparaiso for the new year celebration. I had to go the US embassy to drop off my passport as I was running out of room for the stamps and needed more pages put in. We are going to come back to Santiago, so I will write about it and load some pictures after we visit the city properly.
