We finally got everything sorted... clothes donated, furniture given away, car sold, 9 packed suitcases and a small storage shed full of whatever was left. It's really amazing the stuff you collect even after only 2 years in a fully furnished rental! Our flight was on Lan Chile from LA through Lima and down to Santiago. We were expecting to have a ****** plane, the ones with the seats that feel like they are padded with a piece of cardboard and a few TVs up on the ceiling which show either a ...
Santiago, Chile dicooper10Hello all and welcome to the end! After leaving cool and overcast Vina del Mar, we were about a mile outside of town when suddenly! sunshine. The valley is quite a bit warmer then the coast. We had a small stop in Casablanca (valley wine town) before we headed back into Santiago. Our flight leaves this eve so we have late check out and then a little more sightseeing. But most things close up on Sunday, so not too sure how much we will be able to do/see. Still need to get some lapis lazuli for...
Santiago, Chile stendsSantiago felt like home from the moment we arrived. It´s cosmopolitan, bustling with people and with the sun shining we just had a good feeling about the place. The main area is called Providencia, it has a financial area with lots of high rise buildings and ´suits´strolling around and a commercial area filled with shops, restaurants and bars. We were tired and tense from the non stop activities in Atacama and decided to have a relaxing ´girly´day...nails, facials, massages etc...by the end o...

... until, according to Lauren, the clubs open.
It has been fantastic spending some time with Lauren on her own 'territory'. She absolutely loves it here; she is looking really well, incredibly happy and very relaxed, apart from the pending test she had. We had the chance to see where she lives, well in fact she spends very little time there (her room is tiny) residing primarily with her best mate, Emily. We went along to her campus one morning and threatened ...
... they should have upgraded me!! anyway luckily I got the two seats to myself and so could curl up lying down. My inflight entertainment system was broken so i watched it with no sound... it sucked. Anyway now I'm here in Santiago, Chile and man it's hazy, you can barely see a thing!! Had to buy food to get the net so I'm eating the most massive boring caesar salad, I also asked for orange juice and got some fizzy orange stuff. Anyway will update when I get to Quito.

... only a small lie) and that I would have to verify all this with the hostel as they were sending out incorrect info etc. Anyway in the end he gave us back 30,000 each and charged us 20,000 which I could live with. When we got to the hostel and checked in my bed wasn't ready so me and Hannah just had a wander around to check out the area while it was daylight. Chile seems really nice and has some really colourful building (see pics on facebook ...
Santiago, Chile oldhamguy... and Valentina (the receptionists) were very welcoming and the whole atmosphere of the hostel was very familiar ... - On this weekend there was a big barbeque planned on the balcony of the hostel that we gladly registered to (but more on that later) ...
After a quick cold shower (that i needed quite badly after nearly 30 ...
... an article about Santiaguinos hating their city in summer and leaving it in hordes at first opportunity. It was a bit disorienting to stay there. Reality was slipping into heavy dreams, Santiago was hidden in the shapeless haze and the whole country sank in obscurity as I took off for Mendoza. Nevertheless I returned and spent seventeen days going between fjords, volcanoes, impossibly long lakes, occasionally seeing Southern Cross without recognizing it. Seventeen days lasted ...
Santiago, Chile fram-o... tries/pwong/euro-2007/1188526740/tpod.h tml). Puerto Fuy is located in Vitacura, an even more upscale neighbourhood in Santiago, that could've passed for any any ritzy area in any major city in the world. Driving up to the restaurant, there were tons of other high-end restaurants - in fact, we passed a few other places that I had found on the internet and considered trying. Ben and Ha had never sampled such cuisine before, so I ...
Maipo, Chile pwong... cool guy from switzerland who was traveling alone. We becames friends and I gave him my phone number...you know... just in case. The thing is that when i got to my destination in Puerto Varas I recieve a call from him. That same day we agreed that we were going to summit the Osorno Volcano! Santiago, Chile paulmassadToday we wanted to explore the city, so as soon as we were up we headed straight to the world famous ´Sky Tower´, which was originally a very unpopular addition to the Auckland skyline.
Thankfully now most Kiwis have grown to love this futuristic needle which pierces the blue skies of their biggest city.
It ...
