The Thailander (Part 2 - The Thailand Islander)

... a youngster I was pleased to find that I adapted to it well. The dive drill consisted of hand-signals and practice runs on how to clear water from the mask etc. and then we geared up and got in the water.
I have never been a confident swimmer, and landing in the ocean with a ton of equipment on my back led me to panic a little. Luckily the diahorrea had subsided for now. The snorkel goes in ya mouth on the surface, and sucking in salt-water instead of air really ...

A Rai Lay nice place...

... frisbee in the sea. We promptly checked into their resort and caught up for a few reunion beers on the beach.

Rai Lay is probably the most beautiful beach that we have both ever seen. Soaring jungle-covered cliffs enclose the bay, the sea is turquoise and the resorts are low-level, unobtrusive affairs. We quickly discovered a very cool cocktail bar run by ...

Time for a Little Vacation in Paradise

... that starts with the word “jungle” (jungle gym, jungle fever, jungle juice, etc.). But she was bound and determined to go this way so of course I caved. Well guess what? Have you ever heard of the Bataan Death March? Well this would have rivaled that I think. It was about 1000 miles long, up the highest mountain in Railway, through thick jungle and all during about a 110 degree day. Took us about 3 hours to get back and needless to say, after threats of divorce flew rampant ...

Last stop on my RTW!! Chilling at Railay Beach

... 9h to wait to board my flight to London.... long wait but I get by and treat myself to a 1h foot massage.... ;o)

I am so so looking forward to seeing everyone I have missed so much!! :o)))

And when we get to London and fly above the London eye and Tower Bridge my heart feels up with happy emotion and happy tears fill my eyes. It feels good to be home again too... and I have experienced so much more during this trip than I expected to. I feel really content....

Southern Thailand Unbound

... for people at the festival. It was deafening at times. We
went to the ferry office to get our tickets for Ko Phangan the next day. After
a failed attempt to find a road that went back through the mountains to Lamai
beach, we were riding through some low key hut dwellings amongst the palm
forests inland. This was an area of very simple living, but it intrigued us
none the less. We came upon a little guy selling ice cream out of his own bin,

Thailand Tour

... as neither of us had eaten, but as the bay
came into view, we knew it was all worth it.

It's kind of a whole resort on a small
strip of tropical island. Around 4 or 5 hotel complexes,
restaurants, swimming pools and a glorious open bay. We had
something to eat, then spent some time on the beach and in the ocean,
then went to the sunbeds by our hotel's pool.

The Thai Islands:Part 2

... to Durban) but in generally the evenings were pretty quiet. Our third day was a day trip of a Jungle Tour, which began with some Hot Springs. Now these were amazing but given the current climate I did begin to understand how carrots feel (i mean if carrots had feelings that is) but apparently we all looked 10 years younger afterwords (which would make Jess and I about 11). Stop number two after a rather hot walk though the jungle was the Emerald Pool, this was a slightly cooler ...

The Beach!

... of land with pure white sand and an idyllic turquoise sea, everyone was quite tired by this point so we had a bit of a rest on the beach. I decided to go in for a quick snorkel and I was literally a few meters of the beach and saw a huge white and tiger spotted Moray Eel, a bit freaked out I swam in the opposite direction not wanting to get anywhere near his teeth! Then we were taken to our last spot just off Shark Point just as the sun was setting, I was ...

Becoming a Man

... was smaller and also had learnt some Bruce Lee flying kick move. By the end of the fight I was ready to keep going, but he looked half dead. The crowd decided he won. TERRIBLE DECISION! But i wasn't really uspet because I had fun and knew in my head given him a battering and where he'd been involved in a world conflict the closest i'd ever been to being in a fight was with my sister aged 6. The crowd (couple hundred people) really appreiciate you when ...

Compleanno in viaggio
