I'm still here

Day 4 and I'm still in Vancouver, but I head off to the rockies tomorrow. Wednesday was pretty much rained off, so all I managed was a rainy walk round the Stanley Park forest. Yesterday, however, was much nicer and I got to see a lot more of the city.

I took a long pleasant walk from Science World (presumably a relic from Expo 86 with it's retro geodesic dome design) along the waterside to Kitsilano, stopping along the way to check ...

... with!! Vancouver was mindblowing. A very young and innovative city with most fantabulous backdrop/decor you can wish for. Wherever you look it is just simply beautiful. Yesterday we drove into the mountains and took the cablecart to Grousemountain where we had a four hour lunch in the sun on a mountain with mesmerising views over Vancouver, Vancouver Bay and Vancouver Island. By the time we walked over to see the rescued bears we were ...

This one will be way more interesting, promise!

... on a Sunday so went along yesterday. There were 3 of us. The 3 did not include the organisers for some reason. Was good to play all the same and I think I might be joining a co-ed team on a Wednesday (I have promised not to kick the girls. I have not promised not to hit on them). Thats all I can think of right now, so I'll let you go! Hope alls good in the UK and its started raining again now. Take care of yourself and each other. Ralph x

Shanghai House Restaurant in Richmond, BC

We just finished eating at the Shanghai House. We didn't eat a lot since we are going to eat more at different places later. The food was pretty nice though. Pretty funny too having to deal with foreign currency after a long time. I used to deal with foreign currency almost once a year before coming to the US. Now we are going to go to a mall to buy some stuff.

Vancouver-A different adventure behind each corner

... to everything and super nice. - On our travels I always love chatting to random people (aka "randoms"). So last night in the "hot tub" we chatted to a couple of randoms who were from Canada. They gave us some helpful tips on traveling which was nice. However they did think Australia was only the size of one of their states and they didn't know what AFL was.......mmmm, interesting. - We spent ...

... hostel we stayed in was more of a family getaway than the hostels we were used to. We were pretty much the only people there our age and it was filled with kids and parents, the hostel even enforced a 10PM curfew (no fun, noise, etc), and you could only drink alocohol in the kitchen area which was always empty.... So understandably we spent our evenings out in town on our own getting wasted. We did spend a day checking out Alcatraz whilst we were here that Chris ...

... to see another RV in North Delta (northern Vancouver). This RV was older (1988) and Caroline just didn't like it but just up the road we could see another suitable looking RV with a "For Sale" sign which we decided to investigate. We knocked at the door and a lovely older chap showed us around his much loved RV. It was very well appointed, very low km for the age, with new tyres and all the equipment we needed ...

Here is more information for those of you who may be "Frolf curious": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frisbee_go lf Jacob turned out to be surprisingly good at it and finished the second round with a score only a point or two behind Bob. Kirsty was predictably terrible and despite having a higher par per hole than the others, still came a miserable 4th place. Still, we both had a great time and are hoping that it catches on ...

Vancouver/Whistler - Gold for Canada!

... we went around in a complete circle after following her advice. After we had had enough of her, we changed her over to the more sensible Amanda and this sudden shift in personality over to the stern English woman from the flighty Californian, made all the difference. She soon corrected our course to one that might actually get us where we wanted to go. The public transport in Vancouver is kind of different to that of Toronto. They have a hybrid between a bus and a street car ...
