... and not really worth seeing. Also, I took pictures on my phone that were (unbeknown to me) tiny and in black-and-white. After the 10 minutes at the temple, we walked 30 minutes in the biting cold back to a main road so we could grab a bus into the town.

We took a taxi into the TEDA district to look around (she took us to the wrong spot) and, after walking around to look at some less than exciting buildings, we went into an Irish ...
Tanggu, Tianjin, China baphometdemon... between the last and current posts I have had plenty of travels within the city and taken many pictures, I'll add only a few here of the area of the city close to the river.

With the passing of time, the gilding wears off and the truth of things come forth, but, as I've said before, I feel this city is close to me and I am connected to it - at least as much as ...
Tianjin, Tianjin, China baphometdemon... to the bay. But I'm not feeling too hot and I might go out later. Back to town. Leg not happy on return train. Two girls one seat next to me. Miss a 643 and a 673. Leg doesn't mind a stretch. Not more than ten minutes another 643, that's the double decker. And reverse all that to Nanjing. I will shoot the river, all the bridges have some potential. As it turns out we don't go out. Sawrat, feeling appreciably better today.
Tianjin, Tianjin, China beastlyEarly on the day of the 7th, we went to the main intersection close-by with all our things to grab the long distance bus to Tianjin city. The drive was long and more or less uneventful - the drivers played a couple Jackie Chan movies and a couple Jet Li movies to keep us occupied.

We were, as expected, molested upon our arrival at the bus station. Many cries of 'taxi', us responding with ...
Tianjin, Tianjin, China baphometdemonOctober 1 I had the day off for the Celebration of Chinese National Day. It was the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China. I used this time to explore more of Tianjin. I did a lot of walking and sweating but it was worth it. Enjoy the Photos.

Blake
Tianjin, Tianjin, China blakemason... time off so it's not really that much time off, but great for a trip.

For this trip I traveled to Chengde county to stay with my gal's parents and see the mountain's of China.

Wednesday night after work I took the bus out to Tianjin city and we went out to dinner and packed for the trip.
Tianjin, Tianjin, China baphometdemon... these 2 guys came to our table and spun the noodles in the air to stretch the dough and then they put them in your pot. It was pretty cool. The pics from dinner only include about half the group cause some ditched out because of the rain and they had to ride their bicycles home.

And yes we had a private room at no extra cost for dinner.

Blake
Tianjin, Tianjin, China blakemasonI went to dinner at a pretty nice seafood restaurant. I picked the food from aquariums on the main floor of the place and they cook it and bring it to your table which is upstairs. I went with a JV (joint venture) Team member and the Mexican team.

We had Chicken, Pork, Green beans, 2 kinds of shrimp, fish, and a crab. It only came to about 10 US dollars per person.

Enjoy thee Pics,
Blake
Tianjin, Tianjin, China blakemason... is going to take a bit of getting used to, the language barrier is tough and its a pretty big place, but is quite lovely..huge roses and public gardens and lots of bikes. Another thing that I found interesting, cars, pedestrians and bikes are all mixed. Most of the time people walk in the streets not on the sidewalks, bikes swerve in between the cars and there are no stop signs and the traffic lights are merely a ...
Tianjin, China lisadonohue... by a while ago. I missed riding on trains. And, so far, this is much better than Amtrak (US trains), since we left, as far as I can remember, right on time. Amtrak was nice, but always late. The nice thing about Chinese trains is that they always have hot water, so you can have your noodles. I got a hard sleeper which is actually pretty nice. I don't see why I would need a soft sleeper. I ...
