... at a Mexican restaurant makes me ponder what kinds of crazy foods I'll be tasting in China. The Chinese have a saying "民以食为࣪ 5;“ which basically states that they regard cuisine as the most important thing in life. If this is true, I'm sure I will be trying many flavorful and interesting dishes that I wouldn't even have dreamed of.
Packing has been an arduous process but after double/triple checking ...
... the deal was Culver’s.
Saying Culver’s is just another burger joint is like saying Yellowstone is just another park. The first thing you notice when you walk through the door is that it doesn’t smell like grease, it smells like fresh-baked waffle cones. They had me right there. But the food is excellent, too! And they are green, but not in a prideful, condescending or showy way (like ...
After returning from the reunion I got to spend a few more days visiting with family and friends in the Twin Cities. Two of the highlights were Summer Tuesdays in Stillwater, and the WNBA Minnesota Lynx game.
I went with Sara and Mark to Summer Tuesdays in Stillwater, MN. Stillwater is a cute little town on the St. Croix River, which is the border between Minnesota ...
... especially for Andy, who has come from an unusually hot UK. We set off again and walk towards the river and historic district. When it starts raining....fast, we turn around again for the hotel for jeans, sturdier footwear and coats. Minneapolis has a system of skywalks which link the buildings in Downtown so that people can live, go to work, shop and eat without going outside ( their winters must be bad!!!). This sounds ideal for ...
Day 22/23: Minneapolis
I'm not going to lie - we went into Minneapolis with disbelief on my friend Hayley's ravings of how awesome it was. You couldn't get two text words in with Hayley without her saying "come visit! It is awesome! You'll see! There's amazing food. No. I am not lying. Yes. It is in the states". Hayley is a good friend of mine that braved the rough streets of MacIsaac Hall with me back in the day as an RA at St. FX. We went far out of our way to ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Radisson Plaza Hotel Minneapolis
A great stay!
This stay was for my wife's birthday and it couldn't have been better. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. I asked for a fridge and it was sent on up immediately. We got a king room and was more space then I had expected. The Sleep Number beds I think take a little more getting used to and a multiple night stay might have made it easier, but for the one night I couldn't get it to the right number.
First of all, we had a bit of an issue when we arrived. The Hotel's garage was closed and I was not notified when I booked the room just a few weeks before. Fortunately, there was a nearby garage that worked out OK. The staff was helpful in getting us there and explaining the garage's rates.
Loved our stay at the Radisson Downtown Minneapolis!
We stayed 2 nights at the end of August, a Friday and Saturday. I knew the location was good, but I was not expecting such a beautiful hotel! Most Radissons I have stayed in are nice, but not as posh as this one. I felt like I was staying in a $200+ per night hotel for $110 per night. The beds are very cozy--lots of soft blankets and pillows. (Don't waste your time on the Sleep Number bed--they're not any better than a regular bed)
Everyone at the hotel was so friendly and helpful. The concierge will help with whatever you need.
The restaurant and bar were very nice, too. We pre-ordered room service on Sat night for Sunday breakfast. It was on time and very tasty.
I would definitely stay here again for the location, service, and the price.
we just came back from a four day stay at the radisson in downtown minneapolis. we booked a block of rooms for my sons wedding. we were extremely impressed by the hotel, as were all of our guests. the level of attentiveness both by the person who coordinated the reservations for the wedding block, and the hotel staff during our stay was impressive. many of us stayed on the concierge level, and if you are going as a group, i highly recommend that you do this, because the lounge on the concierge level is a great place to get together. the location of the hotel cannot be beat.....great shopping and restaurants and the light rail is close by. we had lunch in the grill downstairs, and that was good also. We do a lot of travelling....and as of late can be "picky" about hotels.....i highly recommend this hotel!!
Ok but not great
I requested a smoke free room, but got one that had
a smoky odor. After a couple of days, I switched, but I could
not the first night because the hotel was booked solid. The
hotel is not exceptional. For instance, the sauna closes at 10:00 PM.
Our room was very quiet and also quite beautiful. It had a very large bathroom with newer decor. The bed was very comfortable with plush linens and comforters. We thougth it odd, however, that in a hotel of this caliber, a mini-refrigerator was not in the room automatically. We requested one and one was provided at no extra cost. Housekeeping was average. The concierge/bellman were polite but could not give us any helpful information on restaurants, directions to common destinations within the city, etc. My husband actually had to go to the Marriott next door for all this information. We had one meal in the Radisson's restaurant and it was very good. Hopefully, they will solve their concierge problem!!
After already being rated 2nd most popular in the Minneapolis area by contibutors to this site, I'm clearly not the first person to rave about his/her experience. Nevertheless, I'll add my voice to the chorus of praise...
Pure Excellence. All of their rooms now have Sleep Number Beds. The decor is beautiful, it is a prime location for everything in downtown Minneapolis (so basically anything worth doing in MN), and the staff is world class. Their front desk guy has to be the sweetest guy I have ever met. I asked where I should go to eat and not only did he make a suggestion, but he called the restaurant (which was NOT in the hotel) and told them I was coming and to treat me good! I have never stayed in a nicer hotel.
This is a really nice hotel, great food, great service and wonderful location. The top floors are the best to see the view of the city at night. Very romantic atmosphere here.
my husband and i stayed at the radisson downtown minneapolis the weekend of september 7th, 2002 and loved it! i haven't experienced such wonderful customer service/care as we did at this hotel, and we travel ALOT. if anyone needs to stay in the downtown minneapolis area, this is the place for you!
