      Next, we were in one of the EAA tents where there was a display of a B-17 ball turret. This is a ball barely 3 feet in diameter into which a young man lowered himself, then did his best to use the two .50 caliber machine guns to protect himself and his crew from attacking German fighters.       ... Square", a large exhibition area sponsored by my company. Alex and I clambered through the plane, and he was impressed by the spartan conditions available to the crew. Most of all, he realized how lonely the tailgunner's position would have been.
