The weather was the story today as we traveled from Chicago to Madison, WI. Things were great until we reached Madison and then all the elements combined to make an interesting evening. But we weren't deterred. We walked thru the campus and down State St to see the impressive capitol building. Monday morning we took off for our end point of Mitchell, SD. Along the way, we saw farms, cows, and more farms as we drove thru WI, Minn and SD. Before ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States lindasgibbonsWow, can't believe it's been a year since I left my house and moved onto the road. With hindsight I wish I took more pictures. I was in great places where I didn't document with my camera. Hopefully this next year I will be again motivated to write in this travel blog and take more pictures.<br><br>While I was in Madison I had a great time! So many good friends! I took photos of the Dairyland Cowboys and Cowgirls barn dance, the Union Terrace and ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States sjandbuddy... a dry tank. We ended up detouring<br>around some local airport in an industrial area - a very 'interesting'<br>insight into Chicago's suburbs. But at least we found a petrol station<br>in the end. <br><br>Going through Chicago itself was fantastic. The<br>skyline is beautiful, and although we got stuck in brutal traffic for<br>over an hour (going at about 10km/hr) this will probably be the only<br>major city we actually ride through. But we were glad to ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States bonthorn... in the Wisconsin Supreme Court room. Now we went to the bottom of the dome on the platform from were of you could see the 2 lakes, parts of the UW campus and other buildings. After all visiting the Capitol in Madison is a must-do; it was a really neat experience.<br><br> After we left the Capitol, we wanted to go down to the water and see the Lake Mendota Convention Center which is built after sketches of ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States upgrade7From Roswell we traveled north through a tip of Texas. No photos but lots of memories of seeing and smelling cows in feed lots. We drove through a nasty little snow storm in Kansas City, MO. and I now know how well Shorty Too travels in the show.<br><br>Madison was significantly colder than NM, the lakes were ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States sjandbuddy... a healthy lunch. A weather system moves just slightly south of the lakes and Chicago to the east. Therefore we decide to stay on the north side and plan the route via Madison, Wisconsin an then the next day crossing the lakes. A beatiful approach into Madison Rwy 03, flying along the frozen lake and the capitol at sunset. Dinner at the Olive Garden (Italian style chain), few drinks and a round of billiard and dart then we are wrecked.
Madison, Wisconsin, United States grex74Amazing mileage today, 1200km and it wasn't even that painful. We stopped for a pancake breakfast this morning before we left Badlands National Park, then we stopped in the park for a whole bunch of photos. It is majestic, covers 244,000 acres, all of it breathtaking.... We were very disciplined today, and only stopped for gas breaks, potty breaks and the occasional "incidental" break... We had two interesting encounters today, the ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States hatterasncI'm here! I've finally arrived and settled in my new home town for the next two years, Madison , Wisconsin . I drove here early on Sunday with my parents which turned out to be a long, LONG 13 hour car ride. There were some tense moments but for the most part the drive was tolerable, if not enjoyable. The Madison country-side is exactly like that of Southern Ontario so no need to explain what it looks like...no seriously, EXACTLY ...
Madison, Wisconsin, United States jay.leasa... allowed you to get up close to them. And they made funny faces by pressing their face against the glass wall.<br> Next I went and stopped by Lake Mendota. It was getting late and I had to get some supplies, which I did at Nakoma Plaza then headed south were I found a spot for the night at a wayside on 92/69.
Belleville, Wisconsin, United States greenvanartusaWent here on my trip around the U.S. Visited the University of Wisconsin campus. I was shocked to find it infiltrated by socialists! Man are the people there ever different from back home in Louisiana. And I don't mean in a good way! It was like being in a foreign country for me.
