A short ferry ride from Boston in Cape Cod Bay lies Provincetown. Now if you're narrow-minded, ignorant or been in a coma for the last 20 years, or perhaps your idea of liberal is skipping church once a fortnight then this place might not be for you. But if you’re not fazed by 75 year old queens (or would they be queen mothers ?) belting out Sinatra classics on street corners, every tree limb, drain pipe or lamp post being adorned with rainbow flags or pink feather boas or men in skin ...

 

We didn't plan this trip way ahead of time...but it so happened that my dear angel had a business trip to Boston at the end of September, and since I was going with him anyway, and since Cape Cod is just a couple of hours drive from Boston, and since we had an adjacent free weekend, and since this was the closest weekend to my birthday, we decided to spend some time in Cape Cod ...

... we even left the nantucket harbor due to a slight mishap involving excess wind, a wooden pylon, and the dingy motor attached to the stern rail. the new motor has lots of power and got us from our moored boat to land for a lovely dinner, in time for the tennis match.

it all began so innocently. . . sure, let's go for a week long sail with your family up to the maine coast--how wonderful! spend some quality father-son time, see the northeastern seaboard . . . but quickly the weather became 30 knot winds, 8-12 foot swells, and rain. this lasted for 3 days and resulted in a very seasick ...

I have dreamt about what the Atlantic looks like. Its funny, it looks a lot like the Pacific...except no waves. I flew on a red eye out to Boston and Chris' Mom picked me up from the airport and I ate at took me to breakfast at the Four Seasons in Boston. It was amazing!
