♫ Nashville Music City ♫ Think of any classic story song, one that has you laughing out loud or crying in your beer, and there's a good chance it came from Nashville. Most bars and restaurants feature live music, and it's often a sole singer with nothing but a great voice and an acoustic guitar. Nashville Day One

I apologize for the delay in updating the travelogue. The Comfort Inn in Nashville offers wireless Internet, but it does not work. The desk clerks have no clue. Luckily I stumbled upon a FedEx/Kinko's so I write this update on Tuesday afternoon. Monday Ate a muffin and danish at the Quality Inn for breakfast. Out on the road at 8:00. Arrived Nashville at 11:00, but actually only 10:00 local time. I started off at the Opryland Hotel complex. Quite impressive and confusing. I opted for the rive...

Day 18

Day 18 Got up early as Leddya's hubby needed to get into his office. HAd some coffee and went to look around at a few places that were free of charge. I had been told to go see the Opryland Hotel so I took that advice. It is a huge hotel with almost 3000 rooms and lots of gardens indoors. It has several levels and plenty to look at. Google it to have a look. I went to Opry Mills mall in search of lunch and decided on a place called the Aquarium. It is an underwater setting with big tanks fill...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Radisson Hotel Opryland Nashville

Not the typical Raddison

from A TripAdvisor Member
Our room was on the outside and noise from traffic was awful, even with the fan running to help mask the noise. Talked with other folks who said that while indoor rooms were quieter, they reaked of chlorine smell from the pool. Morning front desk person was very nice, but afternoon and evening person had a terrible attitude. Hotel was full so finding parking late at night was a challenge. Room is decorated nicely, but bathroom is no bigger than a postage stamp. There is a Cracker Barrel right accross the street, and Opryland Hotel and Opry Mills Mall is walking distance.

Pretty nice

from IndianaKris
Stayed here one night August 2004. Staff was very friendly. Room was a little pricey for the size, but was very clean. Room was a bit overcrowded with furniture..but nicely decorated. Bathroom was really small...but very clean. Interior room was by pool and was loud until pool closed. Alarm clock went off at 5:30 a.m. ...but you can't blame that on the Radisson...but on the previous guest.

There was some noise of running water at 7:30a.m. that never ended before we left at around 10:30. Do not know if laundry was behind room or what was happening.

Doors and walls are thin...so hotel can be a bit noisy. BUT it is a nice and attractive place to stay.

HOWEVER...be warned...we made SHORT LONG DISTANCE CALL and were charged 9.96. THAT was ridiculous.

Applebees buffet was average...but had special for 4.99 including juice and coffe.

Room had nice coffee maker and nice little toiletries, etc.

You can get more for your money and other hotels nearby...but Radisson was nice.

Wouldn't return

The smell of chlorine from the indoor swimming pool permeates the hotel, and the noise from the pool can be heard till 10 at night. It was so bad, some of the people in our group moved to rooms facing the outdoor walkways, where they heard traffic noise instead. The room was clean and spacious, and there is a free shuttle to Opryland Mills, a huge outlet shopping center with restaurants and a food court. You can't get coffee in the morning in the hotel unless you make it yourself or pay for a full buffet breakfast at Applebee's. I expected more from a Radisson.

What a dump!

from Okemosian
We book at the Radisson for five nights, as were attending a conference "across the street "(i.e. 1.2 miles away) at the Gaylord Opryland. Upon arrival we discovered a horde of wanna-be Jon Benet mothers gathered around the pool, attending a seminar on putting their daughters into beauty pageants. Ugh. Even with the door shut, the tv on, and the fan going, we couldn't hear ourselves think as the seminar leader with her microphone blathered on at high volume. We called the front desk and all they said was "Oh is it a problem?" Duh. The bathroom was so small we couldn't even lay a washcloth down between the toilet and tub. And the place reeked of chlorine. We checked out the next day and went to the nearby Guest House Int'l Inn and Suites, where for $10 more we had a 2-room suite with fridge, microwave, free breakfast, lounge with entertainment, and peace and quiet! They also have a free shuttle bus to the Gaylord Opryland. The Radisson is a dump.

Radisson Opryland

from xine1123
We stayed at the Radisson Opryland last week for a few nights, and the location was very convenient for the Grand Ole Opry and Opryland, but the hotel was just average for the cost. The rooms were more basic motel-type than I was expecting for a Radisson. Overall the room was more basic than I expected. It was certainly clean enough, (except for the bedspread which needed a good cleaning)and the indoor pool area was very nice. I guess I was paying more for the location than the room type. I think there are probably better rooms at this hotel for more money, mine was probably the lowest at $89/night.

Nice Place To Visit

We stayed 1 night on April 9, 2004. We have 4 children under age 13.

The beds were a little small, but the rooms were nice. We were in the Atrium on 2nd floor by the pool. Didn't hear anyone when the doors were closed. Pool was nice. Had a baby pool, regular pool and hot tub. My kids loved it. We ate at the AppleBee's. A little expensive. 3 of our kids dinners were 2.99 each -- yet still paid close to $100.00 for other 3 dinners and food wasn't that good. Hotel was very nice, the people were nice, quick check-in and check-out. No waiting for room.

Got lucky and found a parking spot right by the front door. We would stay again. Try to get better deal, though. At 109.00 a night, it was a little pricey; but you can find a better deal on internet. We didn't have that chance. We stopped in and got the room that day -- no reservations.

Less expensive than Opryland

from yes2travel
Have stayed at Opryland Hotel 3 times for various conventions and although the interior is lovely the rooms are very average. Decided to try the Radisson this time and the rooms are just as nice at 1/2 the price of Opryland. The Radisson is associated with Gaylord enterprises so a shuttle runs every hour to Opryland Hotel. I enjoy walking and found the walk across the road to be very easy and take about 5 minutes.

At least we could keep an eye on the car!

from A TripAdvisor Member
On our yearly trip together, my mother and I opted for the Radisson Opryland. The staff seemed disinterested in us, and the room was definitely not what we expect from a Radisson. The parking close to the entrance was all reserved for the restaurant, making unloading very difficult. We had a 2nd floor outside room where the noise level from traffic, parking lot, and othere guests was horrible. At least we could keep an eye on the car!It was a 'bare-bones' room - one of the bedspreads was stained, there was no radio, the television remote was bad, there was no coffee maker, towels were thin and worn. Comparable hotels would have had all we needed and offered a Continental Breakfast for the price we paid. Will definitely scratch this one off the list.

Disappointed

from PastorJimK
Having just retired, my wife and I decided to take in the Grand Ole Opry on a trip North. We signed up on the Internet. We arrived early and found a rather slow check-in procedure in the nicely appointed lobby. We opted for a no-smoking room when we registered more than a month early. It turned out to be an outside hallway on the second floor. The traffic noise was most unacceptable and a large convention group talked loudly on the balcony area until the wee hours. When I mentioned the noise at check-out, the only response I got was, "sorry!" We enjoyed the show, but if we choose to return to Nashville, the Radisson would not be an option.

OK place for basic hotel stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
We spent 3 nights at the Radisson by Opryland on our recent visit to Nashville 3/26/03 - 3/30/03. Room was clean, shower very small, narrow and bed was comfortable. Our room did not face the interior. Ours faced to the parking lot facing Shoney's. Biggest complaint we had was the door was paper thin and every person walking by you could hear them talking, heels clicking on cement, kids yelling, etc. All 3 mornings we woke up to other guests outside getting ready to leave around 6:30 yelling back and forth at each other. Did you check the room, did you get such and such, did you check under the bed, etc. Applebees rest. is located inside the hotel which was nice. Pool area was indoors and looked nice also. Only other complaint was the first day after being waken up several times by the noise through the nonexistant door was the maid staff beating on the door at 7:30 wanting to clean it. Next 2 days we put out the do not disturb sign until we got dressed and left for the day, then turned it around to the please make up room side. Check for specials around the web. We paid half the street rate by shopping around. For what we paid it was well worth the $. If we paid full price we would of been very unhappy.
