Today we explored the south coast of Long Island all the way through the Hamptons to Montauk where one of the oldest lighthouses in America is. This one, at Montauk Point, was commissioned by George Washington, and is also where the famous slave ship Amistad came ashore and where Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders were quarantined after coming down with malaria. It's a pretty remote yet scenic place. The drive through West Hampton, East ...
... Bookmobile, as well. Huge canvas totes from L.L. Bean carry all the books and supplies we'll need for the next seven weeks. Hours on the road will afford us plenty of time to feast on our collection of living books (history, nature, geography, math, biography), Scripture, poetry, literature, fine art pictures, and great composers' music thanks to our Charlotte Mason style of home education.

... nice golf shirt and marie got .....drumroll please.....NOTHING!!!!! In the parking lot marie got GPS working and Kim programmed the route to Mystic conneticut. He programmed in no tolls. Oh dear what a trip. We were on so many back roads we DID NOT KNOW what state we were in. Seriously. The GPS is so bad I had to hold it up to my ear to hear the chicks voice and it wouldn't warn you when ...
... and last night of not sleeping so well and today driving through stressful conditions, I decided to change plans and treat myself to a King suite at the Hampton Inn. My what a nice luxury to have so much space and such a comfy bed! A perfect way to end the trip....I should have thought of this from the beginning. The first thing I did when I arrived was to take a nap! (I have done that quite a bit these two weeks, it has been heaven.) Then I had a delicious dinner ...
... eateries try to lure you to them with samples.. turned out most of them were trying to make money by selling small samples for $5- 6, Not like the ones we have in Vcr but fun to attend.

Historical Traveler Reviews New London Plaza Hotel
Really liked this hotel
This was a good hotel with a spacious room. I loved their fitness center, pool, and jacuzzi after a long day! The breakfast/restaurant was also very good. The only complaint I had (and the staff was very accomodating) was that room service never showed up when I had requested. The front desk said they had just started the service, however. Not sure how accurate that is, but that was really my only complaint. It is very accessible from I-95, and I enjoyed my stay. The price is also very reasonable.
Enjoyable stay at the New London Radisson
Though tucked away on a hard to find street, the New London Radisson has a very helpful and friendly night clerk who 'talked me in' via cell phone much as a control tower operator would guide an airplane lost in the fog! Upon arrival I found a nice hotel with well appointed rooms, a welcome shelter after a day filled with bumper to bumper holiday traffic. Hotel is very near Mystic Seaport and was a bargain by comparison.
Thanks for all other TripAdvisor reviews about this hotel that helped me decided to visit Mohegan Sun first before checking in the hotel and visit Pequot Museum that next to Foxwoods after check out the hotel. I have found this is great arrangement that after visiting the great Mohegan Sun Casino for a few hours and after dinner came back to a full rest at Radison hotel at New London.
Great Hotel Near Mohegan Sun
Stayed here for a night on our trip to Mohegan Sun, it's about 10 miles to the casino, located in a quiet area in New London but very close to the ferries. Got a good rate from Expedia ($99). Clean and spacious room, bathroom and lobby. I would stay here again. Did not try the breakfast at the hotel restaurant so could not comment on that.
high price did not equal high quality. very clean, nice front desk. food/bar slooow. stay in Mystic if you want anything to do at all outside the hotel.
Loved the Raddison
My husband and I stayed at the Raddison Hotel in New London, CT, (3/19-3/21)and were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and the bed very comfortable. The only problem was the shuttle driver on the weekends (going to the casinos), the driver didn't stick to his schedule, he was late dropping off and picking up, and he was not friendly at all. Other than that we would stay here again.
We stayed at the New London Radisson for two nights and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in great condition and probably the best hotel-style lodging option in the New London area. We managed a priceline rate of $38 per night (Sat & Sun nights), so you can't beat that price. The bed wasn't the most comfortable and they have very small windows. Bathroom was a nice size as was the room. Noise was never a problem. Would gladly stay here again.
Enjoyable stay @ the Radisson
I stayed @ the Radisson in New London, Ct last April. The hotel was very nice. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. I rec'd a great deal for the hotel through Priceline ($50/night). If you decide to stay in New London or anywhere near there, I suggest you try the Bank Street Lobster House. The food was great there.
My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for two nights in the fall and were very pleased. I think we paid about $80-$100 on Priceline. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom area was very spacious and clean. The hotel has a decent-sized lobby that is very modern and clean. The best part about this hotel was the indoor pool and hot tub. The pool was very large and warm and the hot tub was great. There was also a small fitness center that we did not use. The entire hotel complex looks like it is very modern. The location was ideal considering that many major cities and casinos were only a short drive away. I would recommend that you stay here instead of the pricey casino hotels. There was plenty of parking too and we stayed over a weekend. I will definitely return to this hotel if I am ever in the New London, CT area.
I was impressed in general by the hotel. Although I only stayed one night, the staff was friendly and very helpful. The standard room was pretty large, and everything was extremely neat and clean. The large bathroom was the most surprising of the entire stay - not only did it look very modern and clean, it was stocked with everything from a tube of toothpaste (in case you forgot, which I did!) to a small sewing kit.
The hotel is very tasteful for the afforable rates it offers. I woud definitely stay there again.
