Our trip has been months in the making but it was really just today that Jen and I started freaking out about how much left we had to do before leaving home. Here was our checklist prior to departure:

      1) pet cats - check!

Once in Virginia, we continued heading east, eventually getting on I-81 and taking VA-56 east into George Washington National Forest to Crabtree Falls Day Use ...

... enough sunlight that there was no snow here. We got off the trail and scrambled around on the rocks for a few minutes before making our way back. Along the hike up, the elevation gain had kept us warm. But once out on the exposed rocks, it was quite chilly with the wind blowing. Once we got too cold, we started making our way back and finished up the drive ...

... online or purchase in stores. Morrisette has grown to become one of Virginia’s largest wineries by production at an expected 90,000 cases this year even though they grow few of their grapes themselves. The place was absolutely mobbed on sunny last Sunday in October at peak foliage season, but I had to have a tasting anyway. Fit was a very varied flight of 10 wines, several of which were very good. Two in the flight were made using native ...
