... Our next stop was the Natural Bridge Caverns. The temperature in the cavern is a steady 54 degrees so I grabbed my State jacket that I keep in the car. It felt really good going in but by the end of the 3/4 mile walk I was ready to take it off. ... It's definitely not a little hamlet nor a village. It's just a town with little of interest.
The next stop was the General Store just down from Misty Mountain. Another disappointment. It's a yuppy store with a lot of wine, high priced relishes, cheeses, etc. Nothing of interest to us. We still haven't bought our Virginia souvenir. Wish we had gotten the bowl at Monticello!
The City of Lynchburg has done a wonderful job of utilizing a steep hill to create a terraced memorial to all their citizens killed in all wars that have been/are being fought. Each level of Monument Terrace is dedicated to one specific war.
