Flitting into the City of Angels

We had a nine hour flight to Los Angeles from Rarotonga and walked into the chaos of LA airport! A number of flights had landed at the around the same time and the queues were just unbelieveable! To make things worse, some idiotic official in a her attempt to help a few KLM passengers get to their connecting flight made a big …

About to get Started!

A travel blog entry by daniaspeak

Flew in this afternoon and headed to the hotel..on foot. Didn't know the hotel provided a free shuttle, so I hoofed it from the terminal 2 blocks to the front door with all my luggage (why, again, did I pack so much stuff?)

Not too much excitement tonight - don't want to miss my flight tomorrow night. Had dinner and drinks at the …

The Long Way Home

A travel blog entry by dyer0930

Since A is sound asleep in seat 11E (as is Little D in 11F), I'll take a shot at writing the penultimate daily blog post of the trip. Not to mention, today is a travel day, one BIG travel day, and if there's one thing I like to talk about, it's flying!

Today we flew from Barcelona to Marid on SpanAir, and then Madrid to Philly to Los …

A hot, roller coaster of a glide down the coast

A travel blog entry by genghisfaery

After weeks and weeks of preparation, here I am in the back of an old AA 777-700 full of souls choosing LA over Portland- at least for the night. No sooner had we achieved flight than the craft took a harrowing dip! The whole plane squeeled in that awkward "I am laughing with terror" sort of way. Once we hit 30k, smooth sailing. I stayed at a hotel …

24 Hours In LA.

We've been to LA before - in 1995. Ticked off Disneyland and some iconic beaches but then we couldn’t wait to get away due to the smog. Now with a stopover before taking our flight to NZ we thought we had better see some other attractions of the City of Angels. Our accommodation was at an airport hotel, and the travel desk sold some day …

Great place to stay after a long flight. Only there overnight but it is the closest hotel to the Airport. Great rates as well.

Ideal for a night at the airport

Shuttle pick up from the airport went well. Check-in was a bit slow. Room is big and clean and has everything you need. For a night (or just a few hours sleep) at the airport I would absolutely recommend this hotel.

    Terrific value

    from findsun

We stayed at the Radisson LAX April 3rd. What a great place and for the price ( we got a great rate right off of Radisson's web page) it was unbelieveable. The whole hotel was recently gutted. The soundproofing made it very quiet. In spite of being the closest hotel to the airport, we did not hear anything taking off or landing. The rooms were large and the staff was helpful. The former top floor penthouse was converted to a nice bar/lounge with a 360 view and nice comfy sofas to relax. I have told my neighbors who also stayed here and reported the same experience!!

    Great Stay

    from anonymous

We got a good deal on the room and we enjoyed our stay. The room was very nice and clean. All items that we expected to be in the room were there and in great condition. Being from Texas it took some used to having to pay to park almost everywhere we went including the hotel. We saw airplanes taking off continuously but wasn't bothered by the sound do to the windows being sound proofed. It was a very nice and quiet hotel and will stay here again when we go back.

Paper thin walls, good room service

    from PSU_travel_mom

In many ways this hotel is exemplary. During our one night stay in December we met with superb service- at the front desk, in the restaurants, from the shuttle bus driver. The public areas of the hotel are attractive, and there is a variety of different places to eat. We had an above average room service dinner, and would have ranked this hotel highly but the walls are paper thin. We were kept up by noises next door, music from a party below, and endless plumbing sounds.

Strangely enough, there did not appear to be a lot of noise from the airport- I guess they used up all their soundproofing on exterior walls. The pool is pretty nice- large, but some of the equipment in the gym was broken.

Very unhappy with service and room.

    from anonymous

Room was terrible, no coffee maker, phone did not work, missing iron, missing drinking glasses, missing computer keyboard. Broken thermostat, unable to heat room. No in room menu, ordered $49.00 steak dinner, cold and tasteless. Hotel operator rude, supervisor did not return call. Was told by Management Staff, room was in middle of refurbish...Assistant to Hotel General Manager, refused to refund any portion of stay, if fact, hung up on me...

Comfortable haven after a long ugly flight

    from sngcanary

My friend and I stayed at this hotel after a long flight that was delayed. We were exhausted and very happy to get to our room. It was very nice. It appeared that they had done renovations on the rooms recently. The furniture was lovely and the room was spacious. The bed was comfortable. I did think the lobby was not quite up to the same standards as the room, but not bad. Some of the furniture looked out of place. I would recommend this hotel to our clients (I am in the travel industry)

    Great Deal!!! Great Hotel!!

    from anonymous

We stayed here in Oct03 after a long flight. Unfortunately it also happened to be during the wild fires! And a Metro strike! Yet this was a great hotel. It was clean and had a very friendly staff. It offers a free shuttle to and from Lax that runs every 15 minutes. It is extremely close to the Metro system, its across the street. It is also close to Venice and Santa Monica beaches. They also have a free shuttle that runs to Manhattan Beach and various malls in the area. They called a car for us and gave us a great deal on it and ensured it was there on time. There is a car rental agency in the hotel along with a gift shop, spa and travel agent. A café and restaurant, which serves, Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pay phones, fax machines, Internet access etc. This hotel was wonderful! The pool was nice and the hotel was clean and well taken care of. Great views of the airport and quiet, we barely heard any type of plane noise! Great place for the price, we would definitely stay here again.

    Good choice

    from bren990

Checked in here 12/09/03 after a bad experience at Travelodge.Had stayed here when it was a Wyndham and it still impressed me.Big comfortable rooms friendly helpful staff.A wonderful lounge at the top overlooking the runways at LAX.One word of warning we ordered food at the bar it has to come up from the kitchens and is not really hot when it arrives. This was my second experience of this. Also $10 to park but this is quite common in American cities.Overall very good and will definately stay here next time I need an overnight in L.A.

    Great Friendly Helpful Staff

    from betsybubbles

The lobby areas were lovely and and enormous. Rooms were large and nice too. The best about this hotel is the great staff, so friendly and helpful and pleasant! Large pool w. Palms. Loved the folks who worked here!

    Picket Lines!

    from anonymous

Yikes! This hotel is scary! There is a bitter labor dispute between hotel management and the workers at this hotel. During my stay there were over 100 workers picketing outside -- very noisy. Facility is very old and appears to be falling apart. STAY AWAY!

    Radisson LAX

    from anonymous

This hotel was good. Very close to the airport...great for plane spotters infact! The rooms were a good size and quality. The restaurant was fine for us and there is an outside pool. The price we paid at the time was good value too. Parking costs extra, about $10 a night I think. No problems in recommending this as a hotel to stay at close to LAX airport.
