Kesgarh Sahib Fort was built here in 1699, replaced long since by the Gurdwara (a room in its inner sanctum holds twelve important military relics of Guru Gobind Singh). We had BreakFast at the Gurdwara langar: a simple, tasty, nutritious, and free meal of thick daal, roti, and pickle. Open to all ...

Punjab, India hotteawhereever... and plain the bottom of a couple of doors all the time I've been here, and the guy turned up today, it only took him ten minutes, but I waited 7 weeks for him to turn up! Gagan came over in the evening with his DVD player and we watched The Scorpion King, I've seen it before but this time it was dubbed in Hindi, funny! Only three days to go, better start getting my stuff together! Watch out the rest of the world here I come!!! (at last)
Nawa Pind, Nakodar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... traffic around, I didn't think anything bad was going to happen, but if it did it would be a while before anyone found me! Oh I did see two trucks side swipe each other about 10 meters in front of me at one point. I got back to Pind for around 10pm, the TV guy hadn't been to fix the dish, but that doesn't surprise me. Today was a long a draining day, the heat is a killer, it makes everything you do take up 10 times the amount energy it normally would.
Nawa Pind, Nakodar, Punjab, India harvimalhiDay 198 Thur 25th May 2006 Licked down with illness again! It's getting HOT! I don't know exactly how hot it was today, but it was hot!!! Sleep is something of a luxury in this kind of climate, so I was up at 9am this morning. I've been feeling a bit rough today, I have had 'deli belly' and I just feel really tired and wore out. I think it has got a lot to do with the heat. I got to the office around midday again, so I caught the intensity of the midday sun in the 15 minutes it takes to ...
Jalandhar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... was still working on the bike. He managed to sort out the indicators and the misfiring but the horns were a no-go, I think they should dry out with time. I left there at 7.30pm and it was dark by the time I got back to Pind. On the way back I had the idea of buying another bullet, an old one, and fixing it up. That way I could lock it up when I leave and don't let anyone else ride it around. I'm sure other people ...
Jalandhar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... by 11am. We stuck to the same formation as yesterday, Soma rode the Bullet with Gagan on the back and I had Kaka's bike. I put my headphones in and we were on the way, we knew it was going to be a long ride but what we hadn't banked on was it raining along the way! Soma was on another flex with his driving, he was either going super slow or too fast, after a while I just went at my own STEADY pace. It started raining a little around midday so we pulled over at a Dhaba for lunch ...
Nawa Pind, Nakodar, Punjab, India harvimalhi... about it and didn't learn to play it so I have told him I'm going to fix it up and keep it. It's been a long day and the heat is pretty unbearable at the moment. I have put some pictures in today's travelogue of a lightning storm in Basti a few days ago, thanks once again to Derek for teaching me about long exposure. There are also pictures of Kittu doing a repairs on the bullet, if anything goes wrong with it now I'm not spending a penny on it!!!
Jalandhar, Punjab, India harvimalhiSunday 3rd July Routine - it's what we travel to escape from; it's also the first thing we try to establish in each place we stop over, albeit to a much smaller extent than we have back home. Having restored a small degree of what could be loosely defined as normalcy to my toilet routine, I've decided I like the routine of McLeod Ganj in general and wasn't looking forward to leaving today. The reason for my haste was to beat the rains to the Sangla and Kinnaur ...
