Historical Traveler Reviews of Radisson Hotel Bethlehem

Very Nice

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Hotel Bethlehem for a wedding and it was a very nice hotel. Did not order any room service since prices were alittle on the high side. Would go back.

Not so hot....

from DownTownYenta
The staff is not helpful at all, the place is borderline subsidized housing (although the lobby is nice) and the food was awful/overpriced.

Great location--the only place to stay when visiting Bethlehem!

The staff is friendly and responsive and the rooms are comfortable, but it's the location that makes this the only hotel to stay at in Bethlehem.

So-so, good location if you want to be downtown

from TC1
Stayed 1 night, weekend, here at the Bethlehem Hotel. Great location right downtown, friendly staff, beautiful historic building. However, if you want to be more comfortable, I might look elsewhere. I agree with most of the other posts re: parking lot accessibility and driveability, noisiness/thin walls, dated (not meaning in the historical sense) bathrooms and furnishings within the rooms, etc. Were there for a wedding - thankfully we were in an end room, which was away from the slow old elevators, ice machine, vending machine, and away from the street, so it was a bit quieter. Might want to recommend asking for one of those end units. Accessibility to the hotel is a bit difficult - have to bring your bags up and around the front and up a bunch of stairs, so it isn't super easy. For business travellers, they do now have a business center w/internet. Overall ok hotel.

Classic ... yes. Comfortable ... no.

This hotel does have a classic 1920's style, but I was disappointed with the overall comfort of the room. My main complaint is with the quality and condition of the beds. The beds were very worn, and the mattresses were more than just firm, they were rigid and board-like. Oddly, the box springs were not covered and they showed their age. The bathroom was in classic style, but cramped with no adequate table or stand to place large toiletries on. Noise travels easily due to the thin walls, and gaps around the main door that opens to the hall (don't worry you can't see into the hall, but sound can easily penetrate in). One last item of comment - The small parking garage in the back of the hotel is not well taken care of, not well lit, not easily accessible, and the turns to go up or down a level (and to exit) may be too narrow for larger vehicles to manage.

Nice location

I stayed a couple nights at this hotel during Musikfest time in August. The hotel is in a prime location for being downtown. Its on the main street with lots of little shops and places to eat. The rooms were fine. No balconies or pool. Nice restaurant and service was friendly. Parking is limited tho behind the hotel. Its an old hotel with beautiful details. No car needed if you are staying in that area. Its nice.

Great Hotel with Class

The Hotel Bethlehem is a great place to stay. We have been there 5 times in the past 2 months. The service, food, accomodations, etc. are excellent. I recommend eating at the "Tap Room", rather than the Steak house, only because the Steak House is a bit pricey. Both are 5 star in my book. Get a table overlooking the street, by one of the huge palladium windows. Baths are a bit small, but remember, this is a carry-over from the old majestic hotels. Room rates are very reasonable, and if you are a Radisson gold card member, you may get a great upgrade.

Classic 1920's style

Recently restored, this 1920's style hotel located in the beautiful downtown historic area offered very pleasant accomodations. Easy access to other points within the city. Will stay here again in the future.

Shows it's age, but decent

from cynic
We stayed in at the Radisson Bethlehem 1/2/04-1/4/04. Bethelehem is a quaint historic area and the hotel is said to have been recently renovated to restore it to the grandeur of it's heyday. The lobby is beautiful, but I really didn't see any evidence of it's restoration anywhere else in the building. The halls and rooms seemed worn and threadbare. The furninshings and linens seemed to be dated and somewhat chintzy. The bathroom was really small and showed it's age. The parking garage was really small, not well-kept, and poorly lit. The soundproofing was very poor. I think we were on the seventh or eight floor on the end and we kept getting woken up by dogs barking, the train going by, the maids or maintenance people banging around (I think there was a janitors closet or something right next to us). It wasn't necessarily that bad of a place and the customer service was good, but I stayed there because I thought that there would be something special about staying at a historic property and I was disappointed. I felt like I probably would have been happier staying at a Courtyard or a Holiday Inn. Some people may really like it for the ambience and the location. I guess I'm just not a historical hotel type of gal.
