Hotel - my home for the week

Not much of a hotel - but recently renovated. Good location next to the British Museum and walking distance to other sites. But the company is paying, so I don't mind that it is a Radisson.

Sleep at the airport instead

Stayed Nov 2003 To my request for an upgrade, the counter clerk gave me an open mouth laugh. Speaking with other guests, they too were told to use the lobby latrine, as the toilets didn't have sufficient flush above the 3rd fl for a kleenex. Hotel turned heat to 85 degrees "to prepare for (a banquet group) arriving in 2 days". Management wanted to make sure THEY were comfortable. Mngt also closed the bar and restaurant for two days to be accomodating. When asked about the "satisfaction guaranteed or you don't pay", I was told i would be contacted. After a reminder letter, I was called, on Christmas eve, and told that "management" said no refund. I asked to speak to the decision maker and was told no.

In Spain it will be a two start hotel, no more.

I have been last summer in London with 38 C degree in this hotel without air conditioning, in very small-narrow-little-old room just with a fan. Only the bathroom was ok. The staff and Radisson chain were the best because they changed us to another hotel with AC with no extracharge.

Not all that...Try Elsewhere

The staff although apologetic at first was unhelpful and useless. Our first room did not have a toilet that worked and was street side noisy. The second room was not on the street side but not quiet as it was above the air handler. It had a working toilet but for a "Delux King" it was 2 twin mattresses pushed together that were different thicknesses and lengths.Broken glasses (!?!) were left as part of the tea service.2 of the 5 nights the bed was turned down, 2 nights we did not have bathrobes or towels. For 119-149 GBP (240-300 USD) a night - it was not worth it.Try elsewhere.

You're better off sleeping rough

Nice bar and restaurant. Stayed here twice. First time room tatty, but OK. Second time room disgusting. Basement with bars on window. No room to move, just a tatty bed, dirty carpet - unbelievable!. Tiny bathroom - more like a cupboard, no bath. Complained to manager - would not move me! Appalling attitude by management. My company will no longer use this hotel, and I advise you not to. If it's the only hotel open in London - sleep rough! If Radisson are not happy with this review, then they may contact me. They offer money back guarantee if you're not happy, then stick you in a toilet, and then do nothing when you complain.

Ok hotel

Watch out for the restaurant at dinner. My kids went down for dinner on Dec 23, found out it was a fixed price at 35lb, and decided not to dine there. They charged us anyway. The breakfast was good though, but the service was iffy at times. The restaurant one block over (on the way to the british museum) is much better and cheaper. Most of the desk help was nice and helpful, others weren't. The location was good it's close to everything, but away from the crowds. The area around the hotel was safe, My teen-agers walked around alone at night and weren't bothered. The rooms were small, but the bathrooms were above average. The hallway did have a funky smell the first few days. I would stay there again.

Nice in the summer and close to the Museum.

This is a good 3-4 star hotel and the price was right for our stay. Room was a little small but was nicely decorated and close to many venues we wanted to attend. Right in the middle of town really and so the traffic would be noisey if you were on a lower level. The hallways are like hot as the devil but who hangs our there, it was more odd and funny to us. Many nice restaurants nearby and the Greek around the corner was really excellent. I would stay here again, no problem.

It took us 3 tries to get an acceptible though small room. I found the concierges and housekeeping very helpful but the front desk , especially Mr. Ashee? totaly uncaring. Watch out for the bar and dining room pricing. It was $100 PP price fixed for Xmas dinner and I was told there was no other restaurants open which was not true. No one told me I could have gotten something simpler in their bar. I was charged $12 for 2 glasses of ginger ale. The location is not wonderful when the weather is cold and rainy and cabs are pricy.

Wonderful Hotel

i stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. the location is fantastic, the room and service was excellent. My only complaints would be low shower water pressure, and the toliet was a hard flusher. I guess the old building just had those quirks. My bed was VERY comfortable, and I would recommend this hotel highly.

Great Hotel

My friend and I stayed here in Spring, 2002 and we were very happy with our stay. The initial room we were given was a bit small, but after requesting another room, and a little sweet talk, we were upgraded to a suite at no extra charge. Pluses: great service, incredible breakfast buffet, chic little lounge off the lobby, perfect location for Bloomsbury, Covent Garden, and Soho. Cons: None!

Nice hotel with a staff that aims to please

When we found our original reserved room a bit small for three female travelers with LOTS of luggage, we requested a larger room and left our packed bags for the staff to move to another room while we were out sightseeing for the day. When the bags were mistakenly not moved by the time we returned, the staff, to make up for the inconvenience, graciously upgraded us to the spacious and luxurious "Hawthorne Suite", where every amenity was provided. This is what "keeping the customer satisfied" is all about. The hotel is in a great location, near Covent Garden, Leicester Square, and the theaters. Rooms are clean and nicely furnished, and the baths are large. The desk staff is especially helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay again.
