Is this the same hotel????
from wemlass
Well.. knowing that we were flying out from the UK to San Francisco 8 days ago, we booked an overnighter at this hotel. The price, 109.00 Pounds, included a full breakfast, non-smoking double room, and 15 days car parking.
I was rather chuffed that we'd got a good price in a 5 star. However, the night before, I checked reviews on Trip Advisor. Horror of Horrors!! I consoled myself with the fact that it was only one night, and at least the car was sorted. We prepared ourselves for the worst.. and were very pleasantly surprised.
The only hiccup was just after we arrived, and my husband, at 5 pm, tried to get hold of a luggage trolley/porter. The lass on this counter did not speak good English, and did not understand the request, but some 10 minutes later, said porter arrived, and dutifully took our cases to our room.
Forewarned was fore-armed... I printed off several piccies of the advertised double room, which looked very nice, together with the literature (including refs. to the comfortable bed) and awaited the small, dirty room that had been mentioned in another review.
The door opened.... to my amazement, the room was almost identical to the room in the picture. We have four LARGE suitcases, and two laptops when we travel, together with an assortment of sound-reducing headphones, travel pillows etc. and our luggage disappeared into the room very nicely, thank you very much!
The room was ABOVE average in size. It was considerably bigger than the Marriott, Slough, about comparable with the Renaissance, but with a much nicer bathroom.
OK... the room appealed to me. Edwardian style furniture, and a 4/5 for the bed.. and a fairly distant view of the main runway.... OK .. if I looked down, I could see a MacDonalds a few hundred yards from me (but I hardly expect views over Windsor Castle Gardens from an airport hotel!)
The room had a room-height picture window with triple glazing, so there was a very distant rumble as each aircraft took off (beats TV!), which, of course, stops late, and starts around 6.30.... and I slept right through it anyway! This is normal for any airport hotel.
The bathroom was spotlessly clean, and lined with REAL marble, and had a bath big enough for two of us to settle down in, after dinner, with a glass of wine... we read Bill Bryson to each other, and it was all terribly civilised.
Prior to said soak in bath, we headed down to dinner, opting for the intermediately priced Brasserie. The food was excellent with a capital "E"... the salad bar starter was £5.50, and included a fabulous range of hors d'oeuvres, all very fresh and home-prepared. As it was an all-you-can-eat starter, you could certainly have made this your only course and eaten extremely well... great for Atkins dieters with pickles, salads, and Greek/Spanish/Italian dishes!!
However, we then opted for a main course. I had the tarragon mousse stuffed, roasted free range chicken breast, wrapped in smoked bacon, with a wild mushroom demi-glace, together with fresh broccoli (Perfectly cooked!), and garlic/chive potatoes. The latter was ingeniously contrived and quite delicious. We did not opt for pudds, but they looked good, judging by what others were getting.
My husband opted for the seared tuna, which was excellent. The bottle of wine was £16.50, a 14.5% New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.. so good that we've now found it online and ordered a case at £8.99 a bottle :^)
I had a comfy night's sleep, waking up only once for the usual bathroom visit and a slurp of water ... and bear in mind that I am that "Princess and the Pea" when it comes to beds, having had two big spinal ops, including a spinal fusion... that bed WAS comfy. The sheets were 100% cotton and quite delicious .. knocks the spots off poly-cotton anyday!
So... duly refreshed, we headed down to brex next morning where we helped ourselves to a hot and cold buffet.. definitely designed to appeal to the Continental, Brit, and American traveller, with excellent coffee, we loaded up well!
As with all the Heathrow hotels, regardless, you take the Hotel Hoppa bus. Trip time.. 20 minutes, 5 quid per head. Lots of room for luggage on these buses... very similar to the car hire buses that run from US airports.
We are still in Cason City, Nevada, but know that the securely-tended Discovery awaits our return, and that the Edwardian Radisson Hotel at Heathrow is definitely where we'll be stopping next March when we have to return to Nevada.
We DO seriously wonder whether the afore-mentioned negative comments were placed by competing hotels!!
Highly Recommended

Decided to book here for one night before leaving for my honeymoon.
What a mistake..... The package I signed up to included Champagne and chocs in room on arrival, deluxe room and limo transfer to Heathrow next morning. On arrival everything was ok, OK until we reached the room. (I say room shoebox would be more like it) there were no chocs or champagne, and our deluxe room had a view of Mcdonalds drivethrough. We complained, and were told that they had run out of chocs, and we had only paid for a deluxe room and that was what we had. We followed up with a visit to reception with our cases, and were eventually told they had found some chocs, and we were upgraded free of charge to a suite (complaining does work) We were happy with our new accomodation. Next morning we were all but ignored at breakfast, and when we inquired about our transfer we were initially told to take the bus. To sum up for the money I laid out for the package I could have got better service (from some of the staff) and a better package i am sure next door at the marriot.
