Downtown Boston

Initially I rented a car because I not only had to go to Boston this week, but also to Providence, RI. I had landed in Providence, with the understanding that I would get a car, drive to Boston, return to Providence for the other site and then drop it back off later in the week. However, after landing and arriving at the Avis counter, I realized that I didn't have my drivers license with me. Although I was hopeful that they would let that slide by, especially since I was an Avis First custome...

Brownstone Boston & the New England Coast

After the damp mistiness of the countryside, we were quite looking forward to getting back to a City environment again so approached our arrival in Boston with some excitement.

We decided to go via Lake Winnepasuke – an enormous lake which has been a favourite haunt of wealthy Bostonians for decades. Beautiful New England weatherboard houses were doted here and there along it's irregular shores – seemingly all with impossibly beautiful views over water and surrounded by tre...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Radisson Boston Hotel

Great value!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at the Radisson for three nights in May and were amazed at the size of the room. We had a sitting room and a bedroom, two balconies, and two televisions -- all for around $100 a night. I looked around different sites for the best deal and found the Radisson site to be the cheapest. We didn't have breakfast but the area has lots of choice -- Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts are a block away.

The only problem we had was after we'd checked out. We were waiting for the van to the airport -- it's not a courtesy van -- but a bellcap (is that what they're called now?) pushed us into one that wasn't authorised by the hotel. The van drove around the block three times before I told him to stop and let us out. Our cab fare to the airport -- two people -- cost less than what the airport van charged two people. Not a great way to end the stay, but all in all, a friendly hotel in a great location.

Wonderful Boston Experience!

Our King size room was wonderful and the view was breathtaking. View of the harbor, view of Boston Common and view of the skyscrapers...all from the same balcony. Very reasonalbe rates for a downtown location hotel, and I mean Downtown. We walked all day long and didn't miss a thing. Felt very safe in the theater district area and Maggiano's Little Italy around the corner is a must. Didn't use the pool or the restaurants at all while I was there, but didn't hear of any complaints. Furniture in the room was very tastful and the bed very comfortable. A "must stay" in Boston.

Great Value

Older hotel, but great value. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Balcony has great view. Staff friendly and helpful. Great Value. Would definately stay here again.

Pretty darn good

My only complaint was that the carpets were stained. Other than that, this hotel was in a great location in the theatre district. McCormick and Schmick's is practically across the street and a wonderful place for a nice dinner. Boston is a great walking city, so the hotel gives you the chance to do the Freedom Trail right where it starts in Boston Commons. The T is right near by, but one word of warning...don't ask the concierge to get you Red Sox tickets. We waited until the 2nd inning of the game and got $39 tickets for $20...the concierge could only get us bleacher seats for $50! And the scalpers, prior to the game starting, were asking 3 times the amount. But Fenway is well worth the money!

6/27/03 Stated at the Radisson in the Theatre District and found it to be a very nice Stay. Had the King size bedroom. Paid $199 for the go package for two which include full breakfast buffet, and Parking. which would have been $28 a night. From the time we got there we were treated well by all. from the front desk. We were able to get early check and our room was ready by 12:30, which made it nice to get settled and started. Great view of the city from either side of the hotel. Balconies on all rooms. This is not a new hotel, and although the room was a clean as could be it almost time for an carpet upgrade. Regardless my wife and I like to walk the city and it was a perfect location. Downtown crossing was 10 min walk, 18 to Quincy Market, and we walked down Newberry St. to go to Fenway about a 30 min but very pleasant walk. Boston commons is about a 4 min walk and the T is the same. We went to a play on Fri. night and the hotel is within5 min walk to any theatre in the district. All in all I would very much recommend this hotel. If you have Little kids and want to spend allot of time in the swimming pool you may be able to do better as the Pool area was very much in need of an upgrade. No hot tub, and the What could be a very nice outside deck area is in need of a new carpet, But Boston is not about indoor swimming and you are very close to everything.

Definitely will return!

I stayed at the Radisson Hotel Boston completely not knowing where I would be in existence to my school's dorm I was moving into. Little did I know it was easily in walking distance, and the move was easier than I would have ever thought. The staff was friendly although sometimes inconsistent, and the housekeeping staff was excellent! The rooms were larger than I'd expected, very clean, huge beds, and a clean bathroom with lots of amenities. Each room has a balcony to stare out into the city, although on the weekends it can get loud with the Downtown traffic at 2am. Lots of great restaurants around there too like a Legal Seafoods, PF Changs, CPK and a food court. I would definitely recommend this hotel to traveling students, families and anyone who really wants a good bargain for their money!

Good Location

from A TripAdvisor Member
Nice hotel. Only two blocks away from the nearest T stop. Good selection of restaurants in the immediate area. Rooms were overall nice, though I had a few dirt stains on my carpet. Desk has a large work area with an office type work chair. Bathrooms clean and with coffee maker. Iron in room. The temperatures were single digits outside when I stayed and the room seems a little drafty. Charges for local phone calls seemed more than average. In addition, they take on 10 cents per minute after only a *half hour*, so this is not the place to go if you need to connect to the internet for any length of time. I'd stay here again unless I knew I'd have to connect to the internet.

Great location

My daughter and I just spent 5 nights at this hotel during a visit with relatives/sight seeing trip. It was comfortable, VERY clean, quiet. The room was very pretty, comfortable queen beds, lots of towels. Ice machine on each floor. The indoor pool was attractive and clean and bigger than I expected. We had room service breakfast one morning, which arrived at the time requested and very hot. The front desk people were accommodating and friendly, as were the housekeeping staff. I really can't say enough good things about the housekeeping staff. It seemed like there were several staff for each floor and they were QUICK and thorough. No matter what time of the day we left for whatever excursion or meal, they were in and out at OUR convenience. It was very nice to have the balcony. USA Today was delivered to the door every morning. We walked everywhere, this hotel is in a terrific location for seeing the sights, and there are some EXCELLENT restaurants right there, even inexpensive choices as well as pricey ones. This was a great stay and I would absolutely go back to this hotel. The only warning I would have is that the guys who help with your luggage must have a thing going with one of those Boston trolley companies because that was their answer to any transportation question.

Good Enough... Convenient to everything...

If you dont mind walking 5 mins to the T (Arlington Station), or to Newbury Street location is great! Rooms are big and all have a balcony with awesome views... I got a great deal on the room and enjoyed a weekend of shopping and touring Boston... Bring comfortable walking shoes because parking is terrible in Boston.

Hotel has a parking garage. It may seem expensive ($26.00/day "in and out") but it is worth the convenience. I suggest not driving ANYWHERE! Walk and take the T to all destinations...

Hotel Pool and Gym are okay... I dont like to swim with fifth graders so I did not go in the pool. They seemed to enjoy it though.

Bottom Line... It ain't the Ritz or Fairmont, but it is Clean, Convenient to all and 1/3 the price!

I recommend it to all!

Not too bad
