I have stayed at a variety of hotels over the last 3 months. The Radisson and Park hotels (both the same chain) have always been of a high standard and suited my budget perfectly. The Radisson Blu Media City is about 10km from Dubai. Fortunately taxi fares in Dubai are quite reasonable but I guess that some of the money we have saved on the room has gone on taxi fares.

We took a taxi to the airport as it was simpler and quicker than getting the airport shuttle. We could not get our tax form for Anne's glass swans stamped by customs as you need to …

    Friday 20th

Dubai – We arrived early in the morning after 20 hours from Auckland via an Emirates 380 packed to the gunwales. The underground metro took us from the initial arrivals hall to the palatial customs and bagage claim area, but after minimal delays caught the free shuttle to hotel.

After the shower was repaired and we freshened up, we got another free shuttle to Dubai Mall, ...

... passport and Katie on my ticket. Jo did some smooth talking to the check in girl while I was fighting an overwhelming urge to vomit.
After checking with her supervisor it was decided that as they had let me out of Australia on july 17th they probably should let me back in on August 25th
The next hurdle wasn't one at all, she just asked how many bags I had , weighed them and sent them on their way no problems. Huge sigh of relief and a lesson learned. Always go ...

... Weather very hot.. 42 deg and so hot that it takes your breath away and you can't breathe. Then you go inside and the air is cold with the air con is up high and you need a long sleeve blouse or a cardi on or you are cold.. All the locals wear long sleeves. You see them walking around in suits in the heat and you wonder how they don't pass out.. We went for a walk around our hotel to find a marina but the heat was incredible. The road dug up everywhere with limited ...
