... out that the ski lift to the top of Table Mountain was also closed. Another option for the day would have been to drive down to the Cape of Good Hope, but it was too late to start that drive. So we finally decided to just have a driving tour of the city since the weather was still somewhat nice out (just a bit windy).

... in the bush. i'm also not a very adventurous eater. still i'm very proud of my starter choice of crocodile kebabs with peanut satay sauce. the croc was quite tasty. it's a bit tougher than chicken but it really does taste like chicken - i'm not making this up! i followed this up with a dovi zimbabwean - a little poikie pot with chicken, spinach and peanut sauce stew that was served over rice. it was awesome and i'm looking forward to leftovers for dinner tonight!

I spent the weekend in this town in the peninsula called Oceanview. A number of exchange students (including myself, which I'm sure you assumed) got adopted for a 3day weekend by families in Oceanview. Apartheid government declared Simon's Town and Noordhoek white-only towns. The coloured families were forcibly removed from their homes on the ocean, and put in an isolated area inland. Their stories are extraordinary and in spite of injustices ...

Here's the skinny: South Africa was so much fun! I didn't get much sleep because I was trying to squeeze so much into a few days. I went to the Desmond Tutu peace center, participated in a drumming circle in a township, ate sheep intestine, chicken feet, ostrich, toured the city, went to the distric 6 museum, went to Robben island, saw a whale and dolphins, went to a famous Jazz musicians ...

... more... it's definitely not "Africa" at ALL though. I'm glad we didnt start the trip here. Anyways I should go we have a ton of pictures to update onto our ipods so we dont lose them!
