Petrol prices are fixed and controlled by the government. Gas was about $5.50 per gallon. When traveling through some of the more sparsely populated areas petrol-station are scarce and were often 60 miles apart. Always fill up when the tank is half full.

... dinner we took a short walk and discovered that they turned on the Christmas lights for the first time tonight. There were hundreds of people walking and driving around to withness the first night of the lights. The lights stretch over Adderley St and depict holiday scenes. We were almost instantly mobbed by a woman who was really excited to have photos taken with us. After we consented and had our photos taken, she gave me a huge hug. It was way too funny!

... Simbithi was a contentious selection, because it comprises mostly par 3 holes. To those who hadn’t played the course, it sounded like a bit of a mashie course, but it was anything but.
