We failed "Snowman Building 101" !!!
... the other end of the township where a recreational lake is located. The surface of the lake is frozen - makes easy work of skimming stones, etc. Even tentatively tried to walk on the surface - all going well until we heard a sudden cracking noise and I made a quick exit back to the snowy water's edge. Easy to see how lakes turn into ice skating rinks in winter.
Walked home via the Mur riverbank pathway and wondered ...

... to the autobahn initially heading east..
Had planned a deviation to see Gmunden - a recommended visit to a beautiful lakeside town -however snow was falling so heavily as to restrict vision to approx 100m so while we might have been in Gmunden we would not have seen it! We may be able to visit on our way back to Germany next week if the weather is somewhat better. -5° was the coldest temperature the car recorded for us this morning - warmed up to 1° in sunny Styria ...

Jen, Emma and I leave at six in the morning for Helsinki - a quick day of touring before we head to Chicago. Another group leaves in the middle of the night tomorrow, and the third group later in the day. Our exciting trip is coming to an end.

We are staying in the city which has a ten day festival called Spancerfest. It is the largest music festival in Europe - very similar to Summerfest. It is in very close walmking distance of our hotel and has provided lots of entertainment .
