... br>Things weren't all so bad once we got to the bus station, it actually looked half like it did on the pictures ( A rarity in SE Asia) and the driver was a middle aged gentelmen, thing's were not looking so grim.

The first 4 hours kinda sucked, especially after the lights went out as we couldn't read anymore but we pulled up at a midnight bus stop not long after to grab some snacks.
Tak, Thailand bass_ke... paramount, in your face and it makes me feel alive!

That’s all for now…time to finally check into my room now that the day has started. I have been sitting in a lil Thai style hut, writing as the rain fell, and watched the guesthouse owners prepare for the day. The woman comb their long hair, then hold their hair up with the comb, they consciously swept and cleaned the communal areas, singing to themselves and when our eyes met they gave me warm smiles.
Tak, Tak, Thailand oniburger... guess that it had to do with our dinner. We went to speak to the American consulate at the 7eleven and he directed me towards the cereal and milk. Emma ventured off towards the candy section, while Collin and Beau were a bit more... um... disgusting. They got a shredded honey pork and bologna sandwich, a pizza bologna sandwich, a purple drink, and some type of pastry that Beau described as "butter." We laughed, we gagged, we had a good ol' time in the middle of bumble **** Thailand. -Mono
Bangkok, Thailand stonecutter... the dark side of the tourism industry in Chiang Mai, Pat (my partner in crime for this venture) wanted to create a project that symbolised the opposite of this. So far, I think we're on the right track. My apologies beforehand, for in this blog there are no fancy trying to impress writing styles, just me and my thoughts as they enter my head, the experiences and stories I pass during my journey through sustainable travel!
Thailand, Thailand mja1906... be happy and amusing herself the whole time (: Thinking about lots people, past and present...praying...got call from Fr. John, priest at Cathedral in Bangkok...making sure I was ok. Very nice. Also one girl on bus who was friendly, telling me which cities we were stopping at. Spoke French few words English. Now back to new room, bigger, two beds, hopefully nice sleep to explore Old Sukothai tomorrow...
Sukothai, Thailand julix... why we might be useful to the kid. While she (the teacher) was extremely nice and friendly, her English left a little to be desired. However, she tried unashamedly to talk with us... so I have to give her kudos for that. After a morning announcements and speeches from the school principal, and I believe some local minor dignitaries... the camp began. Rapidly we realized that while a general plan had been made by the teachers for the day... we were expected to come ...
Mae Sot, Thailand john_anitaWe scheduled our trip to the falls for the 6th. We wanted to explore the area surrounding Um Phang, so we rented a motorcycle for the day. There's not a place in town that rents bikes, but the English speaking woman at our guest house allowed us to rent her motorcycle. It wasn't a scooter like we had rented in Sukhothai. It was a dirt bike, which is necessary because most of the roads in the area are unpaved. I had never ridden this type of bike, so I needed a quick ...
Um Phang, Thailand dane... flooded with at least 50 guests - all part of a tour. And the tours aren't cheap. They include transportation, lodging, gear, meals, porters, elephants, etc. These treks are about 4500 baht per person for 3 days. That's only $120 or so, but that's a lot of money here. So restaurants weren't willing to cook for 2 people when they could sit around and wait for a group of 25. The hotel ...
Um Phang, Thailand dane... very beautiful. Right now, Kristy and I are about to catch a tuk-tuk, to catch a bus, to catch a tuk-tuk, to catch the train back to Bangkok. Once there, we will be catching another tuk-tuk to get to another bus station to leave for Nakhom Pathom Province tomorrow. 3 very full days of travelling, but hopefully well soon be able to settle down again for a few days. We love hearing from those of you who leave comments. Were glad to see some people are enjoying the blog. Erika
Sukhothai, Thailand genki-drifters... Karen girl who's learning English sits next to me. When I get into the bus station, a tuk-tuk takes me into town and drops me off in front of his friend's hotel. I decide to look at my options. I walk around town with its barrage of images. All along the main roads of Tak are shops set up like markets. There are so many things to look at, it is easy to lose a building from 2 feet away. A lady on a motorcycle gapes at me on ...
