... rental companies in coimbatore and found very good reviews about them too. So we decided to email them on the mail id provided in their website and got a response pronto. They were reasonable and sounded very professional so we decided to hire the minivan from them and they suggested that we be put up in the jenny club and do a local sightseeing trip for a day. Jenny club again was such revelation. It is one of the best clubs that i have ...
Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India pranavsharma... pizza tastes like home :) ). I didn't realize how large and diverse the city was and the parts that I have seen recently make me almost feel as though I am in a very comfortable and familiar place.

Seeing Kerala the other ay was much the same. On my first trip, I only saw small villages. Two days ago, I saw a few larger cities with very nice, large hotels, restaurants, and shopping districts. I ...
Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India mim301I have added paid movie actor to my resume. How it all went down is beyond me, but I found myself at 6am in front of the mandala with my friend Jessica waiting to be picked up for a half day of shooting. A diesel landcruiser type vehicle pulls up just packed with dressed up natives from the college. We of course get the front seat and are greeted with compliments of how "smart' I looked ...
Coimbatore, India ckridingaround... the rubbish thrown everywhere was nothing to do with poverty,it was just the way of the people. Rich people just throw stuff out the window as if it would eventually disappear. They call it the "freedom" (appartently missing from the western world one told me), this also includes been able to **** (and maybe even ****??) wherever they want (however you would rarely see this). However (back to the point...) Franklins house was a couple of km outside of ...
Vellore, India feckinirish... us to sit on. All this keeping in mind that the rest of the ferry is teeming with other tourists. So we sit at the front of the ferry, with the wildlife spotters pointing things out to us. Silly really, but I'll take it while I can. We spot more birds and some Samba deer, some bison, some "wild peegs" (boar) and then a "groofelefan". Not knowing what species this is, we crane our necks trying to see what they are pointing at. Ah. A group of elephants. Right there. Very, very cool. The ...
Thekaddy, India inahillebrand... plans to rent scooters fell through. we were after some nice gentle scooters but all they had on offer were much bigger and offered far greater opportunity for inflicting damage that i was comfortable with. it was a bit of a wasted day but a good reminder that going with the flow is the only way to preserve one's sanity in India. i realise that's such a corny cliche but it's still very true, something i definitely need to always keep in mind.
Ooty, India jimvsindia... of course a little older and crazier than myself, and for those that know the story, the most famous scene is him thinking that a windmill is a monster, and he of course tries to strike down the beast with his lance. The trusty steed he rides is, of course named "Rocinante. . " Many kilometers passed, and I found the turnoff to Ooty. A lot of the signs were in English, they are trying like hell to promote tourism here, knowing that the rupees brought in by sightseers would boost the ...
Ooty, Tamil Nadu, India bloomer... corridor project, which is looking to create a new four-lane highway, expandable to six, that will connect the cities of Bangalore and Mysore (which is about 100 miles to the southwest of Bangalore). A highway exists currently, called SH-17 and it is currently being expanded from two lanes to four lanes, but it takes approximately four hours to travel 100 miles, which isn't exactly efficient. The project is being funded by private investors and the state of Karnataka ...
Bangalore, India lindsayann... the monks give out small quantities of rice to everyone on plantain leaves. There are many, many schoolchildren who happily take advantage of this tradition. This weekend was also particularly special because Alexis was able to meet her penpal Nithya for the first time. The two girls have been writing one another for seven years and only met this weekend for the first time. Mum, this will make you laugh; Nithya was obsessed with my cheeks and pinched them, frequently and hard (I may or ...
Bangalore, India lindsayann... all that night. After all, we had another rise at 7am the next morning in order to set off to Karnataka, home of Mysore and Bangalore. Mysore was almost as hot as Madurai had been. The main attraction of the place is a palace situated in the heart of the city, with huge grounds and opulent décor inside. We spent a good amount of time wandering around inside, ate a bit of lunch and then made off for Bangalore. I liked Bangalore the second we crossed the city ...
