... of Cordoba by King Ferdinand [the Holy]. The now cathedral was consecrated the next day so there has only been one day in well over a millenium that religious services were not conducted there.

The present cathedral was only started in the 16th c. It had a sumptuous feel, reflective of Cordoba's power. Many relics are of silver and gold [at least when the Spanish controlled the traffic in these precious metals from the New World].

Sunday was our last day in cordoba. We took it easy and wandered around the mesquite again. This time we went into the different shops. A lot more people were out because it was actually sunny. We also wet along the "street of flowers" that has pots of flowers all along the walls of the buildings. Again we had a great lunch of meatballs in an almond sauce, typical rice dish. The we headed back to take the train home. Although we did so much in 3 days, we also got to relax and enjoy ...

... to go to a Synagogue but this was closed from the 18th to the 30th for some work. Came across some shops of course and an artisans market and workshop. Would go back to those later. No queue at the Mezquita and since up to 20,000 Muslims could pray there when it was a mosque, there were no issues with controlling the entrance of visitors.
