Had a good trip yesterday, the majority of it was on the A75 which is dual carriageway, unfortunately using local roads would have taken far too long. The road was fairly quiet but as the altitude increased so did the thickness of fog which we were in for about 30 miles then we were back in brilliant sunshine. Looking out of the van window now the sunshine is about to continue today.

The site is really rustic, there are few marked out ...

... is everyone seems jolly. At the end of the town is a ruined castle that was built in the 9th century for protection and in the 13th century the town was granted half revenue from traders as a toll for passage through to the Med. As with all things that slowly become unimportant, the castle has slowly fallen into decline and stone has been robbed by locals to build their own houses. It has however been granted protection as a world heritage ...

Phil took Tess for an early morning walk only to find market stalls all the way alongside the canal where we enjoyed our walk in the sunshine yesterday when we were in town and there were about 50 transit vans but he only brought back bread though. Last night was quieter, we could only hear the lions a couple of times and this morning they're packing up to leave. The camels, lamas and horses are at the side of the road grazing (no lions). ...

... the mountains in the background, lovely. (You can just see it on the photo of the tiled pic) We packed up our late lunch into the backpack and went for a walk, Just opposite were what used to be the salt flats, with brilliant board walks. Phil was delighted, because right in the middle were a group of flamingos. Yesterday he said he thought he had seen some just before we pulled into last nights aire and I'm afraid ...

... to be a very popular place for wind surfers and paddle boarding as the coast is almost like a lagoon here and you would think it very sheltered and safe, but it must get windy. We decide to have a stroll into near by Leucate about 850m and it is fairly straight forward really, with a few small shops cafes/restaurants and a bread shop for the morning, so we are all set. Time to walk back for a cup of tea and put away hats and scarves and to get out shirts and ...
