... everywhere you look -- from the medieval, cobble-stoned streets, the chiesas (churches) and castles, ceramics and arts, to the mountains and sea!

Food, conference, accommodation all included in my 500Euros registration for the week. The food was a pleasant surprise -- each one a two-course meal of local cuisine with different restaurants. I love seafood and there's no shortage in Sicily!

I suffer information overload from the rich historical background shared by the guide. Or perhaps I was too distracted taking photos of the amazing structures by the sea... and just soaking it all in in whatever solitude I find away from the crowd. It is quite an experience being in monuments built more than two thousand years ago and still standing strong and proud.

... a lay in till 7am and I will pack and must check out at 10, then I will spend more time relaxing by the sea, having a read and researching how to spend my remaining weeks. I have a hostel booked in Palermo for the next two nights and then will see where the will takes me. I have woken feeling much more positive, and after chatting to friends and family yesterday on the web or phone, I definitely feel less alone. :-)

Its very different, but it will be a very interesting experience... I'm not sure if they often go into Palermo, but I plan to at least spend the day there before I fly back to the UK

The fourth man was supervising the operation, also on foot. The fact that we were the only traffic that they were likely to meet during the morning only added to the surreal character of the encounter.
