We worked ever hour that was asked and by the ...

... actually managed to doze on and off and slept quite a lot more than I did! About two hours before we landed in Dubai there was a medical emergency near us. The call went out for medical personnel. Despite Mike's current handicap he went to offer assistance. There were four doctors there but the crew wouldn't let them touch the patient until their credentials were verified. Meanwhile there was unconscious woman lying there with an Aussie doctor wanting to cannulate while she had ...

    Free shuttle? You're kidding.

... civilization. Melbourne runs a free shuttle that makes a big square around the city center, about a one-hour ride, with a recorded speaking tour of the main sites. I simply can’t imagine the same in the U.S. – a free shuttle smacks of socialism. Certainly, it would be all right for tourists, but U.S. citizens would no doubt begin to ride it as the locals have learned to do in Melbourne. Who knows what free shuttles ...
